Why: The Globemaster III cargo jet landed on a runway that is 3,580 feet long and 100 feet wide rather than the 11,421 feet long and 151 feet wide runway at MacDill. The nose stopped six to 10 feet from the end of the runway. It took off again later with no problem.

Why: After the helicopter and plane bumped over Rio Vista, the pilot had to make a hard landing short of Byron Airport, 8 miles south of Rio Vista Municipal Airport. According to the owner of the chopper flight school, the chopper was hit from behind by the Beechcraft.

Boeing, Air Lease Corporation Finalize Order for Up to 60 Next-Generation 737s
SEATTLE, Oct. 4 — Boeing and new leasing company Air Lease Corporation (ALC) have finalized an order for up to 60 Next-Generation 737-800s.
The order, first announced at the Farnborough Airshow in July, is for deliveries through 2017. In addition to 54 firm orders the deal includes six additional airplanes to be reconfirmed.

Udvar-Hazy, chairman and CEO of Air Lease Corporation. “This order for Next-Generation 737-800s continues that great tradition. Air Astana Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kazakhstan
Air Astana flight KC-672 made an emergency landing in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on March 7th.
The Boeing 757-200 plane was flying from Astana, Kazakhstan, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a technical problem.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All 69 passengers and 8 crew members remained unharmed.
American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Charlotte
American Airlines flight AA-730 had to return for an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 21st.
The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a possible issue with the flaps.
The plane landed back safely. All two hundred and fifty-eight passengers and sixteen crew members remained unharmed.

What: Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Istanbul to Birmingham England

Why: This Turkish Airlines flight developed a problem with the plane’s right engine, and had to divert to Istanbul. Passengers disembarked after a safe landing, and were provided an alternative flight on another Boeing that was flown in especially to replace the disabled plane.
