Who: 23 passengers and 19 crew
Why: The Globemaster III cargo jet landed on a runway that is 3,580 feet long and 100 feet wide rather than the 11,421 feet long and 151 feet wide runway at MacDill. The nose stopped six to 10 feet from the end of the runway. It took off again later with no problem.

Small Plane Crash in Missouri Kills 4, Injures 1
A Beechcraft A-36 plane crashed while taking off from a private airstrip near Huggins, Missouri, on June 12.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesperson Jeff Kinder, witnesses said the plane got off around 100 feet before it went down in a rural area.
Four people, including Charles “Mark” Openshaw, 43, his wife Amy Openshaw, 43, their son Tanner, 15, and daughter Ellie, 12, were killed in the crash. Another child was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital in Springfield.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

UTAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Issues
UTAir flight UT-295 had to return and make an emergency landing at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, Russia, on February 24th.The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Surgut, Russia, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Azur Air Plane Returns to Russia after Bird Ingestion
Azur Air flight ZF-7777 had to return and make an emergency landing at Domodedovo International Airport, Moscow, Russia, on November 23.The Boeing 767-300 en-route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, had to return after one of its engines ingested a bird.
The plane had to burn fuel before landing.
No injuries were reported.

Alaskan Airlines Emergency Landing in San Jose

An Alaskan Airlines de Havilland DH8 en route from San Jose to Boise Idaho developed a fire in the right engine and made an emergency landing when it returned to the San Jose airport.Emergency services were on standby. None of the 47 passengers or six crew reported any injuries.
The odor of burned metal was in the cabin, but no fire was found. Passengers were provided alternatives.

Helicopter Crash in Minnesota Kills Two
A helicopter crashed in a field and burst into flames in Lino Lakes, Anoka County, Minnesota, on the evening of October 6th.
There were 2 men aboard. Both of them were killed in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
