    EmiratesEmirates flight EK-35 made an emergency landing in Trabzon, Turkey, on February 4th.

    The Boeing 777-300, heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Newcastle, United Kingdom, was diverted after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

    LATAM Brasil Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Buenos Aires

    LATAM Brasil flight JJ-8050 made an emergency landing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, to Santiago, Chile, was diverted after it encountered hail and turbulence.

    Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Australia

    Qantas flight QF-566 had to return and make an emergency landing in Perth, Australia, on February 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Sydney, Australia, but had to turn back due to airspeed disagreement.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy-four people aboard remained unharmed.

    Venice-Bound Germanwings Flight Diverts to Stuttgart Airport

    GermanwingsGermanwings Flight 4U 814 had to divert and make an unscheduled landing at Stuttgart Airport, Germany, on April 4.

    The airline said the Airbus A319, en-route from Cologne, Germany, to Venice, Italy, had to be diverted after the pilot reported suspected oil leakage and shut down one of the engines. “This is a standard safety procedure. It was not an emergency landing,” the statement said.

    The plane landed safely and all 123 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

    The aircraft was taken for inspection while an alternate plane was arranged for the passengers.

    Ryanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Italy

    Ryanair flight FR-3918 made an emergency landing in Trapani, Italy, on August 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from London Stansted Airport, England, to Palermo, Italy, was diverted after the first officer became incapacitated.

    The plane landed safely. The first officer was rushed to a hospital.

    Why: About thirty minutes after taking off from Sana’a for Cairo, one of the jet’s engines exploded.

    The plane returned to Sana’a, and made a safe landing. No one aboard was reported as being injured. Passengers waited almost 3 hours for a replacement flight.
