What: Air France Airbus A340-300 en route from Boston,MA to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
Where: Boston’s Logan Airport
When: Jul 22nd 2009 (returned at 2 am)
Who: 125 people
Why: During or immediately after takeoff, the number 4 engine caught afire. The crew shut down the engine, put out the fire, and dumped fuel before safely landing at the airport, where emergency crews remained on standby for “hot brakes.”

The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back after the ground crew noticed pieces of carbon on the departure runway.

Turkish Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Iceland

A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland, on March 22nd.

The plane heading from Istanbul, Turkey, to Los Angeles, California, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

The plane landed safely. The patient was rushed to a hospital.

SpiceJet Flight Diverts to Ahmedabad due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

SpiceJet flight SG-160 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad, India, on July 4th.

Air Leisure Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cairo

Air Leisure flight AL-730 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on February 18th.

The Airbus A340-200 plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew received a cargo door open indication.

The plane landed back safely. All 265 people aboard remained unharmed.

Ultralight Emergency Landing in North Carolina

Where: in Pine Hall on Knight Road in Stokes county NC
When: 6:40pm.
Who: unnamed pilot.
Why: When the pilot’s engine quit, the pilot made an emergency landing in a tobacco field. The vehicle was described as a “hangglider with a motor”
