What: Ameriflight Fairchild SA-227-AC Metro III en route from Lewiston to Seattle Boeing Airfield Where: Seattle
When: Mar 10th 2011,
Who: pilot
Why: On landing in wind shear conditions, the pilot came in with late clearance to land, and veered off the runway. The fire department sprayed with foam. There were no injuries but the plane incurred gear collapse and propeller damage. The accident tied up the runway and led to diversions.

News You Didn’t Hear in February: Pilots Arm Detaches Leading to Hard Landing

The carrier is Flybe.

The aircraft was on a scheduled commercial air transport flight from Birmingham to Belfast
City, with the commander, in the left flight deck seat, as pilot flying. It was night, and
although there was no low cloud affecting the airport, the wind at Belfast was a strong
west?south-westerly, gusting up to 48 kt. Before the approach, the commander checked
that his prosthetic lower left arm was securely attached to the yoke clamp which he used to
fly the aircraft, with the latching device in place. But his arm came off, leading to a hard landing.

Sunexpress Flight makes Safe Landing in Germany after Flaps Problem

Sun expressSunexpress flight EW-1885 made a safe emergency landing at Dusseldorf Airport, Dusseldorf, Germany, on June 4th.

The Boeing 737-800, flying from Rome, Italy, was on approach to Dusseldorf’s runway when the crew encountered flaps problem, prompting the plane to land at a higher than normal speed.

The plane landed successfully.

The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Domodedovo International Airport, Russia, was attempting to land during heavy rain.
