    Why: While the flight was en route, on board systems indicated that the landing gear was malfunctioning. The plane circled Albuquerque for an hour burning off fuel before making a safe landing.

    Air Nelson Returns to New Zealand after Engine Failure

    Air NelsonAir Nelson flight NA-8117 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Auckland Airport, Auckland, New Zealand, on July 9th.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-300 had taken off for Palmerston North, New Zealand, when its left hand engine failed, prompting the crew to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The flight was cancelled and passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

    Two F15 Jets Make Emergency Landing at Huntsville International Airport

    Two F15 jets made an emergency landing at Huntsville International Airport, Alabama, on October 28th.

    The planes were flying from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, to Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, when one of them experienced mechanical issues.

    The planes were diverted to Huntsville where they landed safely.

    All crew members aboard remained unharmed.

    JetBlue Flight 354 Diverts and Lands in Emergency

    jetBlueJetBlue flight 354 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Orlando International Airport, shortly before 11 a.m. on July 16.

    The incident happened when the plane, carrying 104 passengers, was en route from West Palm Beach International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

    Spokesperson of JetBlue, Tamara Young, confirmed the incident and said in statement that the decision for emergency landing was made after the pilot observed a ‘mechanical indication’ in the cockpit area.

    The statement further said, “The aircraft landed safely, without incident and taxied to the gate under its own power. The aircraft is currently being inspected.”

    A replacement plane was arranged for taking the passengers to their destination.

    Airbus Makes Emergency Landing in Stephenville

    What: A-310 Airbus en route to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
    Where: Stephenville International Airport, Canada
    When: Dec 16, 2010
    Who: 8 crew
    Why: Overheating batteries convinced a pilot to land the privately owned airbus at Stephenville International Airport.

    After landing, members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police met the jet on the tarmac. The crew will be staying at local hotels until the plane is repaired.

    Hamburg – A320 nearly crashes during crosswind approach

    1st march 2008 – A320 nearly crashed during crosswind approach at Hamburgs RWY23.

    This wise pilot aborted his landing and saved them all from a crash. Pilots should be able to calculate the wind direction and speed to determine if they can execute a safe crosswind landing. This plane landed safely on the second attempt.
