    Military Plane Makes Emergency Landing at General Mitchell International Airport

    A military plane made an emergency landing at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 30th.

    Authorities said the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft declared an emergency after experiencing a lightning strike over Chicago.

    The plane burst two of its tires as it landed.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Fort Lauderdale-Bound JetBlue Flight Hits Turbulence; 1 Injured

    JetBlue flight B6-1020 encountered turbulence while descending toward Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was flying from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, when it hit turbulence that injured a passenger.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    Disabled Piper Quietly Lands on Palm Beach

    What: Secure Aviation Inc Piper PA-31-310 Navajo C
    Where: North Ocean Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL
    When: Jan 28 2012 2:46 pm
    Who: 1
    Why: After having engine problems, a pilot quietly landed his twin-engine Piper Navajo on the beach south of the Palm Beach jetty. He said “The plane didn’t want to run anymore, so it landed.”

    The pilot was not injured but the plane suffered some damage and will have to be dismantled to be removed from the beach.

    The 1974 plane is registered to Secure Aviation, 10218 SE Banyan Way in Tequesta.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Suffers Bird Strike Near Sacramento Airport

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-1940 suffered a bird strike near Sacramento International Airport, California, on December 6th.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-700 plane coming from Santa Ana, California, was on approach to Sacramento Airport.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Piper Crash Claims Two Florida Couples

    What: Moonchaser LLC Piper PA-32R-300 Lance en route from the Bahamas to Fort Pierce, Florida
    Where: Near Treasure Cay Airport, Isla de Gran Abaco
    When: March 25, 2012, 1:33 pm
    Who: 4 fatalities
    Why: Taking off from Treasure Cay, the plane crashed on Abaco island between the runway’s end and S.C. Bootle Highway. By the time Fire and Crash Rescue arrived, the plane was engulfed in flames.

    The plane crashed near the runway, killing four Americans (two couples) with local vacation homes on Abaco Island, 60-year-old Gregory Schwartzenberger and 56-year-old Janice Schwartzenberger of Neptune Beach, Florida, and 61-year-old Dennis Sartoris and 56-year-old Janie Sartoris of Jacksonville, Florida. Two dogs were also aboard the flight.

    At the time of takeoff, there were strong crosswinds reported.

    What: GENESUS ONE INC owned single-engine Skylane Cessna en route to Essex County Airport
    Where: emergency landing outside the Rockaway Townsquare Mall
    When: Tuesday August 25 2009
    Who: pilot and a female passenger
    Why: After the engine began running “rough” during a training flight, the plane was forced to land where it could–outside the Rockaway Townsquare Mall. The pilot and passenger only had minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The plane suffered minor damage to the front end.
