What: Batavia Airbus A320-200 en route from Denpasar to Balikpapan

Why: On landing in Balikpapan, the plane overran the runway, causing the airport to shut down.
The plane was towed to the gate, and the airport reopened after two hours. No injuries were reported.
Cathay Pacific flight CX-654 made a safe emergency landing at Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong, China, on August 5th.
The Airbus A330-300 flying from Bangkok, Thailand, was about to land when the crew reported a gear lock up indication.
The plane landed safely.
All 285 people aboard remained unharmed.

Why: After takeoff, the flight sustained a hydraulic systems failure. The pilot circled to burn off fuel, then landed about an hour later with no further problems. The plane had to be towed to the gate.
Passengers were provided alternative bookings.

What: Delta Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Portland, OR to Amsterdam
Where: Atlantic Ocean
When: Jul 6th 2010

Why: While en route south of Greenland, the plane’s pressurization system developed problems, and the pilot decided to divert to Goose Bay, landing safely at Goose Bay about an hour before their scheduled landing in Amsterdam. A replacement jet (Boeing) was provided for the passengers so that 22 hours later, they arrived in Amsterdam safely. The original Airbus was relegated to maintenance and repaired.
UTAir flight UT-579 overran the end of the runway on landing in Sochi, Russia, on September 1st.
The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane was coming from Moscow, Russia.
The plane came to stop in a river bed off the runway and its left engine caught fire.
There were one hundred and seventy people aboard at the time; eighteen of them were injured.
An airport worker died after having a heart attack at the scene of the incident.
Aegean Airlines flight A3-880 had to return and make an emergency landing in Athens, Greece, on February 24th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Vienna, Austria, but had to turn back due to computer problems.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The plane continued for a safe landing.
