    AirAsia Zest Flight Returns to Manila due to Engine Failure

    AirAsia ZestAn AirAsia Zest flight had to return and make an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, at 8:38 p.m. on August 9.

    The incident happened after the plane’s engine number 2 encountered “engine bleed” while cruising over Guangzhou, China. Shortly after the operational engineering bulletin procedures were done, the plane’s engine number 1 also failed.

    The pilots, Capt. Allan Roque and First Officer Dennis Surficial made a preemptive descent and contacted the air traffic controller for making an emergency landing back at Manila. The cabin pressure continued to rise and the oxygen masks deployed automatically.

    The A320 aircraft safely landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). All the passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Canada

    American Airlines flight AA-718 made an emergency landing in Gander, Canada, on June 30th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane flying from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Rome Fiumicino Airport, Italy, was diverted after it hit turbulence that injured a flight attendant.

    The plane landed safely.

    Airbus Emergency Landing

    On August 29, 2013, an Airbus A321 en route from Antalya to Moscow. made an emergency landing at Domodedovo Airport with a problem with its left main gear.

    There were seven crew members, 219 passengers including 12 children. No injuries were reported.

    No injuries were reported.

    Madison: American Eagle Emergency Landing

    What: American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Tulsa to Chicago O’Hare
    Where: Dane County Regional Airport
    When: 9:46 p.m. Sunday April 4 2010
    Who: 27 passengers on board
    Why: While en route, the pilot detected smoke/electrical fumes in the cockpit and decided to divert to Madison.

    Passengers were provided overnight accomodations by the airline and continued to Chicago on Monday.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Munich

    Lufthansa flight LH-1683 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on October 27th.

    The Airbus A321-100 plane flying from Budapest, Hungary, was descending toward Munich when the crew declared an emergency due to an electrical odor on-board.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    US Airbus Engine Stalls over Seattle

    What: US Airways A319 en route from Anchorage to Phoenix
    Where: Seattle
    When: Oct 15 2010 5:45 AM
    Who: 130 aboard
    Why: While en route, the left engine stalled. The crew shut down the engine and diverted to Seattle where they made a safe landing at Sea-Tac.

    A replacement Airbus was provided.
