On March 11, 2013, an Air France Airbus A330 en route from Mumbai to Paris developed an engine problem. The pilot shut down the engine and returned to Mumbai.
There were almost two hundred passengers aboard the flight. None of them reported injury.
Passengers disembarked, and were provided accommodations as an alternative flight was provided.
Lufthansa flight LH-1679 had to make an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on October 11.
The Airbus A320-200 was descending towards Munich when the crew declared emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. The plane was flying from Budapest, Hungary, at the time.
The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.
Authorities said the smoke had dissipated before landing.

What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A319-100 en route from Vitoria,ES to Sao Paulo Congonhas,SP
Where: Diverted to Sao Paulo Viracopos Airport
When: Aug 8th 2009
Who: 38 people on board
Why: Hydraulics failed on approach to Sao Paulo so the pilots declared an emergency and diverted to the longer runway at Vircacopos Airport.

A good decision here! Better to divert than to have a repeat of the TAM Airlines Flight 3054 (JJ 3054) crash on July 17, 2007. The 35L runway at Congonhas is 6,365 feet long, which is why the Congonhas nickname is “aircraft carrier.” The Viracopos/Campinas International Airport has a 10630 foot runway.
Cathay Pacific flight CX-755 made a safe landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, Thailand, on August 14.
The Airbus A330-300 flying from Hong Kong, China, was about to land when the crew noticed smoke appearing in its cockpit.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.

What: Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route from Singapore to Melbourne
Where: Singapore
When: Dec 17th 2009
Who: 354 passengers and 19 crew
Why: While en route, the outer right engine surged. Passengers reported bangs and vibration, and flames.
The crew shut down the engine and returned to Singapore on the remaining 3 engines, where they made a safe landing.
The flight was delayed for a day. It is not reported if this plane completed the route or if an alternative plane was used.
Air India flight AI-315 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, on March 29th.
The plane, en-route from Hong Kong to Delhi, was diverted after the crew reported an engine issue.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 154 passengers remained safe.
Jetstar flight JQ-506 had to return and make an emergency landing at Melbourne Airport, Australia, on May 5th.
The Airbus A320-200 flying to Sydney, Australia, had to return due to a problem with one of its landing gear.
The plane landed safely.
No injuries were reported.
