    Smartwings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Prague

    Smartwings flight QS-3179 made an emergency landing in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 9th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Tel Aviv, Israel, was on approach to Prague when the crew reported they had a park brake set indication.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    US Airways Boeing Mystery Puncture

    What: US Airways 737
    Where: Charlotte-Douglas International Airport
    When: March 28, 2011
    Who: pilot
    Why: Prior to takeoff, a small hole was discovered in the fuselage toward the back of the aircraft on the left side. The flight was cancelled, and the plane was taken out of service. The last flight had been Philadelphia to Charlotte. The cause of the hole has not been determined but the FBI is investigating if it might be a bullet hole that extends from the exterior into the cabin

    Where: field near Railroad Street and Auto Center Drive near the Corona Municipal Airport
    When: Dec 17, 2009
    Who: pilot
    Why: While en route, the plane developed engine problems.

    The pilot made an emergency landing and flipped over after touchdown. He was able to extricate himself on his own, and was ported to Riverside Community Hospital with a broken nose and other injuries.

    Emergency Landing: Boeing Cracked Windshield in Adelaide


    What: Virgin Blue Boeing 737 Flight DJ289 en route from Melbourne bound for Perth
    Where: Emergency landing in Adelaide
    When: Saturday
    Why: A cracked windshield was the reason for the emergency landing, but passengers–although uninjured– are apparently upset that they were not informed about the situation as it happened.

    UK Participating in Sita Air Accident, Nepal

    What: Sita Air Dornier 228-202 en route from Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport to Lukla
    Where: 500 Meters from airport
    When: Sept 28, 2012
    Who: 19 fatalities
    Update: Because seven British subjects were killed aboard the Sita Air crash on September 28, the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch will be joining the accident investigation.

    The British fatalities were named as:

    1. Raymond Eagle, 58, from Macclesfield, Cheshire
    2. Timothy Oakes, 57, from Winwick, near Warrington
    3. Stephen Holding, 60, from Stoke-on-Trent
    4. Vincent Kelly, 50, from Lostock, Bolton
    5. Darren Kelly (brother) 45 from Isle of Whithorn Southern Galloway
    6. Benjamin Ogden, 27, from London
    7. Christopher Davey, 51, from Northampton

    Nepalese authorities have a three month report deadline.

    CargoLogicAir Plane Drops Flap Track Fairing Near Munich

    CargoLogicAir flight CLU-473 dropped a flap track fairing near Munich, Germany, on May 19th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane flying from Frankfurt, Germany, was on approach to Munich when a flap track fairing from the right wing fell off.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    The fairing part was later recovered by the local police.
