What: twin engine plane crash
Where: South part of runway 39 at the St Pete – Clearwater Airport.
When: The plane went down shortly after midnight/early Friday morning.
Who: Two women with non-life threatening injures are being treated at separate hospitals.
Why: The landing gear was damaged and the plane landed in a grassy area by runway 39.
The steering gear in the plane hit the pilot in the face. High winds from Hurricane Ike may have played a role in the crash.

Air New Zealand flight NZ-5755 suffered a lightning strike near Dunedin, New Zealand, on October 14th.The incident happened when the plane, flying from Christchurch, New Zealand, was descending toward Dunedin.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained uninjured.

UTair Aviation flight UT-258 had to make an emergency landing at Vnukovo International Airport, Russia, on February 13th.The Boeing 737-500 plane was flying from Saint Petersburg, Russia, when the crew reported a fuel leak and had to shut down one of the engines.

American airlines flight AA787 had to divert and make an unscheduled landing at Dublin Airport, Ireland, on October 24.The Airbus A330-200 plane, heading from Paris to Charlotte, North Carolina, was diverted after a passenger went into premature labour mid-air.
The plane landed safely. The woman was shifted to Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.
