    Malaysia Airlines Plane Bursts Tire on Landing in Jakarta

    A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-800 plane burst a tire on landing in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 13th.

    The incident happened when flight MH-725 was coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    The plane became disabled on the runway and was towed to the apron.

    All passengers and crew members remained uninjured.

    SAS Flight Diverts to Stavanger

    On Feb 16, 2013, a Scandinavian Airlines System Boeing 737-883 was en route from Las Palmas to Bergen – Norway when the flight developed problems with the flaps.

    Pilots diverted to Stavanger airport where SAS has mechanics. Ten minutes before landing, passengers were told to keep their heads down.

    Pilots successfully made a fast landing at high speed with no flaps, and though none of the 108 passengers was injured, plenty of them were nervous after ten minutes with their heads down. Then the captain came out and explained what had happened.

    Four buses took passengers to Bergen by bus, but some opted to stay in hotels and fly the rest of the way.

    Sunwing Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Greece after Technical Problems

    Sunwing Airlines flight BY-1526 made a safe landing at Corfu International Airport, Greece, on July 21st.

    The Boeing 737-800 flying from Belfast, Northern Ireland, had just taken-off when the crew some technical problems.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 186 people aboard remained safe.

    What: Beechcraft BE-36 Bonanza en route from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais
    Where: Venezuela
    When: 6 p.m. Brasilia time on July 11
    Who: Mauricio Lustosa de Castro, CEO of Magnesita Refratorios SA
    Why: Mauricio Lustosa de Castro’s private plane was last heard from in a distress call in Bolivar. Following the distress call a search and rescue began around July 13, though the incident was deemed a fatal crash on July 11.

    Austrian Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Austria after Strong Smell

    Austrian AirlinesAustrian Airlines flight OS-418 made a safe emergency landing at Vienna International Airport, Schwechat, Austria, on October 1st.

    The Airbus A321-200 flying from Paris, France, was about to land when the crew noticed a strong smell of wet cloth or old socks, and donned their oxygen masks.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.
