    Small Plane Crashes in Medina County, Texas; Pilot Killed

    A small plane crashed in Medina County, Texas, on April 15th.

    Authorities said the plane went down in a brushy area near the Bexar-Medina county line.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Emergency Landing at Meilan International Airport


    What: Shanghai Airlines Boeing 737 flight FM833, en route to from Shanghai to Phnom Penh, Cambodia
    Where: Meilan International Airport in Haikou in south Hainan province
    When: late Wednesday night Nov. 19, 2008
    Who: 149 passengers
    Why: After an alarm light came on indicating a mechanical problem with a fuel pump, the plane diverted to Meilan International Airport. Mechanics found that one of the plane’s two hydraulic pressure pumps was damaged, causing hydraulic oil to leak. The hydraulic oil caused a large amount of smoke. Passengers were provided water and instant noodles.

    Easyjet Flight Diverts to Bournemouth Airport due to Medical Emergency

    EasyjetEasyjet flight EZY6401 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Bournemouth Airport, England, on March 23.

    The flight was en-route from Newcastle to Barcelona when a passenger fell sick midair. The crew then reported the medical emergency and diverted the plane to Bournemouth Airport.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    An Easyjet spokesperson said, “The passenger was met by paramedics and the flight is now continuing to Barcelona… We apologise for any inconvenience experienced due to the diversion and resulting delay.”

    Delta Emergency Landing Ends in Bus trip and New Engine

    What: Delta twin-engine McDonnell Douglas MD-90, en route from Tampa, Fla to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport
    Where: Rochester
    When: April 13, 2011 4 pm
    Who: 143 passengers 6 crew
    Why: While en route, passengers felt vibrations, and smelled smoke before the pilots made an emergency diversion at the Rochester airport. They landed with the fire department on standby.

    An engine was judged to be faulty and is being replaced while at the Rochester airport. Most of the stranded passengers finished the last leg of their trip on buses provided by Delta, though some rented cars.

    British Airways Plane Returns to London’s Heathrow Airport

    British Airways flight BA-33 had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on February 18th.

    The Boeing 787-900 took off for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but had to turn back just 20 minutes later, due to an issue with one of the door seals and difficulty in maintaining cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All the passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Italian Fighter Jets Intercept Air France Flight After Loss of Communication

    Air France flight AF-671 was intercepted by two Italian fighter jets over Italy, on March 22nd.

    The incident happened after the Boeing 777-300 plane flying from Roland Garros Airport, Reunion, to Paris Orly Airport, France, lost communication with the Italian ATC.

    The plane subsequently landed safely at Paris Orly Airport.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
