    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Sydney Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-839 made an emergency landing in Sydney, Australia, on October 4th.

    The plane was flying from Los Angeles, California, when the crew noticed that the plane was low on fuel and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Bird-Struck AA Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight 1320 returned and made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 17.

    The plane, carrying 126 passengers and 7 crew members, departed for St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, shortly before 9 a.m. Authorities said it was airborne for about 10 minutes before a flock of geese hit it. The pilot then declared an emergency and landed back uneventfully. No one was injured.

    The aircraft was taken out of service. The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.

    The FAA is investigating.

    F-15 Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

    An F-15 fighter jet had to make an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport, Oklahoma, on April 14th.

    The plane was one of the two returning from a training session at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. Authorities said the pilot decided to divert due to a “minor system malfunction.”

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

    Smoke Prompts Emergency Evacuation of IndiGo Passengers; 28 Injured

    IndiGo AirlinesTwenty-Eight passengers were injured after a landing gear problem in IndiGo flight 6E-176 from Mumbai caused thick smoke emission on landing in New Delhi, India, and prompted an emergency evacuation on August 20.

    Air Traffic Control (ATC) observed “dense smoke” coming out of the left-side lower portion of the Airbus A-320 after it landed at IGI Airport at about 3:30 p.m.then alerted the pilots and emergency services at the airport. All 154 people aboard the plane were evacuated using emergency slide-chutes.

    Twenty-eight of 148 passengers suffered minor injuries during the slide evacuation, while the 6 crew members escaped unhurt.

    Aviation regulator DGCA and the airline have initiated investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed that a heavy friction on the left brake assembly of the landing gear caused the smoke.

    Horizon Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Yakima, WA

    Horizon Air flight QX-2399 had to divert for an emergency landing in Yakima, Washington, on May 29th.

    The plane heading from Boise, Idaho, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after the crew noticed an electrical burning odor on-board.

    The plane landed safely. All 82 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The plane, heading to Kathmandu, Nepal, was forced to return after it lost power to its left engine.
