    Last Surviving Hockey Hero Succumbs

    Aleksandr Galimov, the last of the Russian Hockey team had been found after the crash standing in the river, tearing off his burning shirt. He survived the crash but died Monday at the burn clinic, five days after the crash.

    The plane struggled to gain altitude on takeoff and crashed about a mile from the end of the runway.

    The Yak-42 is an aging Soviet-designed narrow-body aircraft, the frequent focus of safety concerns after a series of problems and crashes.

    After the last fatal Yak-42 crash crash of this behemoth is blamed on pilot error, it is my opinion that someone is in denial.

    Russian Helicopter Crashed in Murmansk: 16 out of 18 Dead

    A Mi-8 helicopter crashed on June 1 into a lake in Murmansk region of northern Russia.

    According to the authorities, the helicopter was carrying 18 people, including 13 passengers and 5 crew members. The passengers of the ill-fated helicopter included top officials of renowned fertilizer manufacturer, Apatite.

    Sixteen people were killed in the accident while two were rescued in an injured state. Those who survived were taken to the hospital.

    Apatit’s parent company, PhosAgro, has issued a list containing names of passengers and crew members aboard the helicopter.

    The cause of the crash is being investigated.

    SkyWest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in St. George

    SkyWest Airlines flight OO-3133 made an emergency landing in St. George, Utah, on November 17th.

    The plane took off for Phoenix, Arizona, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Swiss International Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Johannesburg

    Swiss International Airlines flight LX-289 had to return and make an emergency landing in Johannesburg, South Africa, on April 14th.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic issue.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirty-one people aboard remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Charlotte

    American Airlines flight AA-5474 had to return and make an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 4th.

    The Canadair CRJ-900 plane took off for Savannah, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a nose gear steering problem.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Hard Landing in Mt Gambier

    Why: The pilot was landing at Mt Gambier when the landing gear failed. It apparently retracted while landing.

    The plane came to rest pitched on its side in a pool of leaked fuel. No injuries were reported.
