    Cathay Dragon Plane Suffers Tail Strike in Cambodia

    A Cathay Dragon plane suffered a tail strike while landing in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on March 3rd.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A321-200 plane was performing flight KA-248 from Hong Kong, China.

    The plane taxied to apron without further incident.

    All 143 passengers aboard remained safe.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Indiana

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight 1277 had to make an emergency landing in Indianapolis, Indiana, at around 9:15 P.M. on July 28.

    The plane was heading from O’Hare International Airport, Illinois, to Charlotte, North Carolina, when the pilot declared emergency due to “indication of a mechanical issue.”

    The plane landed safely and was cleared to resume the flight after inspection.  

    All passengers and crew members remained unhurt. Charles Tillman, former Chicago Bears player, was also aboard at the time.

    Perth Bound Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Adelaide

    QantasA Qantas flight carrying 266 passengers made an emergency landing in Adelaide, on suspicion of smoke in the cargo hold.

    The A330 aircraft was en route from Sydney to Perth when the smoke warning alarm was activated, indicating fire in the cargo hold. The pilot diverted the plane to Adelaide where it landed at about 12:40pm on April 4.

    According to Qantas, “The flight deck received a warning light indicating a technical issue, so as a safety precaution the pilots made the decision to divert to Adelaide. The aircraft landed without incident and passengers disembarked via normal procedure through the aerobridge.”

    Metropolitan Fire Service officers are looking into the cause of the smoke warning alarm activation.

    S7 Airbus Skids Rostov-on-Don Landing

    On January 12, 2013, an S7 Airlines Airbus A319 en route from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don made a fast landing at Rostov-on-Don Airport, sliding 40 meters past the end of the runway. Reports are of poor traction on wet concrete.

    The fifty passengers aboard the flight disembarked safely. No injuries were reported although the plane suffered some damage.

    Weather conditions may be to blame for the accident.

    THe runway was shut down after the accident, resulting in a number of flights having to divert to other airports.

    Iran Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Isfahan

    Iran AirIran Air flight IR-406 made an emergency landing in Isfahan, Iran, on August 8th.

    The plane heading from Bushehr to Tehran, Iran, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down its right hand engine.

    The plane landed safely. All 236 people aboard remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Warsaw

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-3844 made an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on December 15th.

    The plane flying from Wroclaw, Poland, was descending toward Warsaw when the crew reported an issue related to the landing gear indication.

    The plane landed safely. All seventy people aboard remained safe.
