    Flybe Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport

    Flybe flight BE-480 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Scotland, on January 16th.

    The plane heading from Manchester, England, to Belfast, Northern Ireland, was diverted due to a suspected technical fault.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air NZ Nails Emergency Landing


    What: Air New Zealand Boeing 747 jet en route for Los Angeles
    Where: NZ
    When: Saturday night (Feb 7)7:30 p.m. local time Saturday (06:30 GMT), returned to Auckland 90 minutes later.
    Who: 365 people on board
    Why: Reporting a hydraulic problem after a light indicated a landing gear should not be raised, the Boeing dumped it’s fuel and returned at low altitude to New Zealand for a safe landing.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Aurora Municipal Airport, Illinois

    A small plane made an emergency landing in a corn field in Sugar Grove, Illinois, on October 6th.

    The incident happened shortly after the plane took off from Aurora Municipal Airport, Illinois.

    There were two people aboard at the time, including the pilot Edward Bonifas, 58, and his wife Carmella Bonifas, 65. Both of them remained unharmed.

    The plane was heading to Arizona at the time.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Ethiopia Airlines: Hydraulic Failure

    What: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Addis Ababa to Rome
    Where: Rome
    When: Apr 5 2010
    Why: On approach to Rome, the Ethiopian Airlines jet experienced hydraulic failure. The flight made a safe landing, but had to be towed to the apron. No injuries were reported.

    Engine Issues Forced Emergency Landing at Philadelphia International Airport

    US AirwaysA US Airways Express jet, operated by Republic Airlines, had to return and make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport, Pennsylvania, on the morning of December 29.

    The Embraer 175 aircraft took off from Philadelphia for Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, New Hampshire, but had to turn back just minutes later, due to an engine problem. Some passengers reported that they heard a loud boom and saw fiery flashes shooting out of the plane.

    The plane landed safely and all 75 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline accommodated the passengers in another flight while the plane was taken for examination.

    Delta Airlines Flight Safely Lands at Shannon Airport after Gear Issue

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-406 made a safe landing at Shannon airport, Ireland, after a landing gear scare on October 11th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was on approach to Shannon airport when the crew received an unsafe gear indication.

    The crew continued for a low approach during which the ATC confirmed that the gear appeared to be down.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
