Cathay Dragon flight KA-296 made an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on June 16th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Hanoi, Vietnam, was descending toward Hong Kong when the crew noticed smell of smoke in the cockpit and requested priority landing.
The plane landed safely. There were one hundred and fifty-nine people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

Why: When cabin pressure problems were indicated (possibly originating with the seal around the aircraft’s windshield) the plane had to proceed with an emergency landing at the Indianapolis airport, where the plane taxied to the gate and were able to disembark normally.

American Airlines flight 2381 made a safe emergency landing in Lubbock, Texas, at around 8 p.m. on August 11.
The decision for emergency landing was made after the aircraft, en route from Orlando to Los Angeles, experienced engine trouble.
Emergency crews were put to alert at the airport when the plane safely touched the runway. No one was hurt.
The passengers resumed their flight to Los Angeles at 11:30 p.m.
Asiana Airlines flight OZ-201 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on September 27th.
The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Seoul, South Korea, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed uneventfully. There were 353 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200, en route from Paris to Rio de Janeiro

Why: On takeoff, the plane developed a problem. The right engine was shut down. After suffering what sounded like a backfire to passengers, the captain announced they would be returning.
The flight crew then dumped fuel (apparently in the English Channel) and returned to the airport. Passengers were provided accommodations and were rescheduled.
Southwest Airlines flight WN-2386 had to make an emergency landing in Buffalo, New York, on April 21st.
The plane, heading from Chicago Midway International Airport, Illinois, to Boston Logan International Airport, Massachusetts, was diverted after it en-countered turbulence, injuring two flight attendants.
The plane landed safely. The injured crew members were taken to hospitals.
