    Why: While en route, the plane was struck by lightning. As a safety measure, in spite of no visible damage, the crew decided to return to the airport, where the passengers debarked and were referred to alternative flights.

    Medical Emergency Prompts Thomson Holidays Flight to Divert to France

    ThomsonA Manchester-bound Thomson Holidays flight had to make an emergency landing at Nantes Atlantique Airport, France, at round noon on September 6.

    The decision for diversion and emergency landing was made after a passenger in his mid 50s suddenly fell sick midair, shortly after the flight TOM2621 took off from Alicante, Spain.

    The paramedics were ready at the scene when the plane safely landed. The passenger was treated for about half an hour and the flight resumed after his condition stabilized.

    The flight, which was due to land at Manchester Airport at 1:05 p.m. eventually landed at 3:30 p.m.

    Small Plane Makes Safe Emergency Landing on a Duplin County Road

    PiperA Piper aircraft made an emergency landing on River Road, near Interstate 40, in Duplin County, North Carolina, on the afternoon of December 11.

    The plane, en-route from Maryland to Wilmington, was forced to land in emergency after it lost oil pressure. Authorities said the pilot was trying to land at Wallace Airport but could not make it to there and landed on a road.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained uninjured. He managed to push the aircraft off the road immediately after landing.

    The plane’s right wing sustained minor damage.

    A search plane reported sighting the wreckage of the plane 20 nautical miles from Oksibil on a mountain at 9300 feet.
    Update:
    Fifteen bodies arrived at Sentani Airport, Jayapura on Thursday afternoon and taken to the Bhayangkara Kotaraja Police Hospital for autopsy. Two of the 12 passengers were babies.

    Who: 13 passengers and 2 crew
    Why: Initially the weather was reported to be foggy, but 2 hours after the flight, thunder storms were reported. The tower has not been contacted since 10:35 and although the flight was due at 11:05, it never arrived.

    State owned PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines is sent out another twin-otter to search for the missing plane. The search was hampered by continued bad weather.

    The flight was lost while passing through the Jayapura to Oksibil route

    Air Canada Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Toronto

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight 549 made an emergency landing in Toronto, Canada, on January 29.

    The plane, en-route from Newark, New Jersey, to Vancouver, Canada, was diverted after it lost cabin pressure due to a fault in an air conditioning unit.

    The Airbus A319 plane landed safely. All 107 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2263 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, on December 22nd.

    The plane heading from Fort Myers, Florida, to Boston, Massachusetts, was diverted after the crew noticed an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All thirty-six people aboard remained safe.
