    Shaheen Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Jinnah International Airport

    Shaheen airShaheen Air flight NL-901 made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Pakistan, on June 10th.

    Authorities said one of the tires had burst as the plane took off from Islamabad, Pakistan. The plane was bound for Manchester, United Kingdom, at the time.

    The plane landed safely. All 150 passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Saratov Airlines Plane Diverts to Russia after Bird Strike

    Saratov Airlines flight 6W-5806 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Saratov Tsentralny Airport, Russia, on July 21st.

    The Antonov AN-148-100 flying from Penza to Sochi in Russia, had to divert due to bird strike.

    The plane landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Embraer Flaps Issue, Landing at Grand Rapids Aborted

    What: American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Grand Rapids
    Where: Grand Rapids
    When: Jan 1st 2012
    Who: 46 aboard
    Why: On approach to Grand Rapids, the Embraer developed problems with the flaps. The pilots had to abort their first and second approach.

    Due to braking conditions, pilots diverted to Chicago, and made a fast but otherwise safe landing.

    No notation if/how passengers were provided transportation from Chicago to Grand Rapids.

    American Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Texas after Losing Cabin Pressure

    American Airlines flight AA-2594 made a safe emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on May 8th.

    The Boeing 737-800 flying from Boston, Massachusetts, was mid-air when it initiated a rapid descent due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely.

    According to the FAA, 15 passengers and 1 crew member sustained injuries.

    Southwest Airlines Emergency landing at Oakland

    What: Southwest Airlines flight from San Diego to Oakland
    Where: Oakland
    When: April 10, 2010
    Who: 134 aboard
    Why: While en route the pilot discovered hydraulic problems. The hydraulic fluid leaked on to the landing gear and smoked on landing; but otherwise the fight landed safely in Oakland with emergency vehicles on standby.

    American Airlines Flight Struck by Lightning

    What: American Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Chicago to Reno
    Where: Chicago
    When: Sept 2, 2010
    Who: One-hundred-sixty passengers and five crew members
    Why: After being struck by lightning, American Airlines Flight 1487 returned to Chicago where it was examined by maintenance.

    Passengers were provided an alternative plane that had not been struck by lightning.
