    What: Germania Airbus A319-100 en route from Cochstedt to Las Palmas
    Where: Las Palmas
    When: Jan 14th 2012
    Why: After being cleared to land on runway 21R, the pilot touched down on runway 21 L. There was no other traffic on the runway at the time.

    The pilot apologized and the tower controller chided as one might expect.

    The incident is under investigation.

    Unstable Portuguese Passenger Alarms Toronto-bound Passengers

    What: WESTJET en route from Vancouver to Toronto
    Where: Thunder Bay, Ontario
    When: December 3, 2011 5 pm
    Who: 118 passengers
    Why: A Westjet Boeing 737 was en route when a Portuguese passenger made what seemed to be bomb threats.

    The flight diverted to Thunder bay. The passengers disembarked, and the disturbed passenger, a former mental patient, was taken into custody and hospitalized.

    The plane was examined and no explosives were found. Passengers were able to resume their flight on December 4.

    All Nippon Airways Bounce-Landing, No Injuries

    What: All Nippon Airways Boeing 767-300 en route from Beijing to Tokyo
    Where: Tokyo
    When: June 20, 2012
    Who: 190 aboard
    Why: On nosegear touchdown, the jet received damage, bouncing before securing the landing and making it to the gate. No injuries were reported.

    The video below records the “bounce.”

    The skin of the jet developed several creases.

    Indigo Flight Diverts to India due to Technical Problem

    IndiGo AirlinesIndigo flight 6E-591 diverted and made a safe emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, on May 19th.

    The Airbus A320-200, heading from Vadodara, to Delhi, India, was mid-air when the crew reported a technical fault, prompting the plane to divert.

    The plane landed successfully.

    All 183 people onboard remained unharmed.

    Business Flight Ends in Field

    What: Beechcraft A36TC Bonanza 36 en route from Albany Int’l Airport
    Where: Clifton Park, NY
    When: August 15, 2012, 7:30 a.m.
    Who: 2 aboard, 1 fatality, 1 injury
    Why: After taking off, the plane stalled 12 miles north of Albany. The plane crashed in a suburb. passenger Walter F. Uccellini and his business partner, Jim Quinn were aboard. Uccellini died in the crash; Quinn suffered head trauma and was hospitalized at Albany Medical Center.

    The plane landed stopped between trees and did not strike any buildings. Quinn may have been attempting to land on the road. Before the land became a subdivision, it was an emergency landing field.

    Emergency Landing in Bangladesh

    What: United Airways ATR en route from Dhaka to Chittagong
    Where: Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport
    When: Feb 20, 2012 8:20pm
    Who: 50 aboard
    Why: The pilot was en route to Chittagong when the plane developed a problem with one of the engines. On advice from ATC, the pilot was able to land safely ten minutes early.

    Examination has not uncovered the engine problem.

    A replacement jet has been provided for the return flight.
