Why: Wake turbulence was such that the landing was hard. Complaints about the hard landing prompted plane inspection which turned up wrinkles found in the fuselage. The plane was grounded for repairs and further inspection.

United Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Ireland
United Airlines flight UA-25 made a safe emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Clare, Ireland, on July 11th.The Boeing 757-200, en-route from Newark, New Jersey, was about to land when its right hand main gear stopped working properly.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.
Ethiopian Crash Update
The wife to the French ambassador to Lebanon is confirmed to have been aboard Ethiopian Flight 409 that took off from Beirut and crashed within minutes in the Mediterranean sea. This BBC news report says 92 were aboard. Other sources claim 90. Reference in this video is made to people being pulled from the sea, but no survivors have been found.
UTAir Flight Overruns Runway in Sochi, Russia; 18 Injured
UTAir flight UT-579 overran the end of the runway on landing in Sochi, Russia, on September 1st.The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane was coming from Moscow, Russia.
The plane came to stop in a river bed off the runway and its left engine caught fire.
There were one hundred and seventy people aboard at the time; eighteen of them were injured.
An airport worker died after having a heart attack at the scene of the incident.
Boeing Press Release: Boeing Completes 787 Dreamliner High-Speed Taxi Test
EVERETT, Wash., Dec. 12 — Boeing (NYSE: BA) completed high-speed taxi tests on the first 787 Dreamliner today. This is the last in a series of functional tests planned in preparation for first flight.
“Our pilots told me the airplane performed beautifully,” said Mike Delaney, vice president and chief project engineer for the 787. “We’re going through and analyzing the data to ensure we’re ready for first flight. From evaluations we’ve done so far, everything looks good.”
During the testing, the airplane reached a top speed of approximately 130 knots (150 mph, 240 kph), and the pilots lifted the nose gear from the pavement. Video highlights of the taxi testing will be available by the end of the day Monday at www.boeing.com and www.newairplane.com.
Taxi test is the last testing planned before first flight.
Boeing Celebrates Final Assembly of 1,000th 767
EVERETT, Wash., Jan. 10, 2011 — Final assembly started today on the 1,000th Boeing (NYSE: BA) 767 airplane. Workers marked the milestone with a celebration at the Everett, Wash. factory.“This milestone is a credit to every employee who had a hand in building 767s over the past 30 years,” said Kim Pastega, vice president and general manager of the 767 program, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “It is a testament to engineering a high-quality product that continues to improve through the years.”
Final assembly is the last step of the production process before the airplane rolls out of the factory on its way to the paint hangar and the Everett Delivery Center for ground and flight tests. The 1,000th airplane – a 767-300ER (extended range) passenger model for ANA (All Nippon Airways) – is the last 767 to complete final assembly in its current home. Beginning with line number 1001 – also a 767-300ER for ANA – all future 767s will complete that step in a new, smaller bay where production is scheduled to increase in 2011.
The 1,000th airplane is scheduled for delivery next month. ANA, a long-time Boeing customer, has taken delivery of 89 767s since placing its first order in 1979.
Boeing will use the 767 as the platform for its NewGen Tanker if it wins the U.S. Air Force KC-X Tanker competition. That contract award currently is scheduled for early this year.
The 767 family is a family of clean, quiet, fuel-efficient airplanes that provide maximum market versatility in the 200- to 300-seat market. The 767 family includes three passenger models — the 767-200ER, 767-300ER and 767-400ER — and a medium-widebody freighter, which is based on the 767-300ER fuselage.

Why: When a tire burst on takeoff, hydraulics and an engine were affected. The pilot had to return to the Kinshasa airport and dumped fuel next to the airport, but could not land well because of the damage. On landing, the plane veered off the runway but came to a stop safely in the rough off the runway. In fact, it is the condition of the runway that appears to have caused the problem–assuming the plane ran over a pothole or bump which caused the hydraulic problem and forced the left engine shutdown.
