    E- Cigarette Prompts Southwest Jet Emergency Landing in Baltimore

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight 3654 had to make an emergency landing in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 10.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after a smoke detector set off. The plane was en-route from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

    The Boeing 737 landed uneventfully and all 118 passengers and 5 crew members remained unhurt.

    The airline said in a statement that the fire detector went off after a passenger used an e-cigarette in the lavatory.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2263 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, on December 22nd.

    The plane heading from Fort Myers, Florida, to Boston, Massachusetts, was diverted after the crew noticed an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All thirty-six people aboard remained safe.

    PSA AirlinesPSA Airlines Flight 5209 made an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, on July 15th.

    The plane heading from Norfolk, Virginia, to Charlotte, North Carolina, was diverted due to a possible issue with cargo hold’s fire extinguishing system.

    Jet2.com Flight Returns to Manchester due to Flaps Problem

    Jet2Jet2.com flight LS-891 made an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on October 6th.

    The plane took off for Lanzarote, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a flaps issue.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Who: 99 passengers and six crew
    Why: On experiencing an air conditioning problem, (turning off an overheated air conditioning system and the second system shut down), the plane lost cabin pressure. Thirty minutes out of Melbourne, the pilot descended to 10,000 feet, and continued to make a safe landing at Melbourne.
