    What: Hong Kong Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Hong Kong to Beijing
    Where: Changsa
    When: Mar 9th 2012
    Why: While en route, the flight developed a loss of cabin pressure.

    Oxygen masks were deployed.

    Pilots diverted to Changsa where they made a safe landing.

    RAF Chinook Emergency Landing in AZ

    What: RAF Boeing Chinook HC2 (CH-47D) en route from Naval Air Facility El Centro Imperial Valley, California
    Where: Arizona
    When: April 7 2012 7.30pm BST
    Who: 7 injured
    Why: A UK Chinook made an emergency landing “mishap” in Arizona, about fifteen miles from Yuma.

    Seven aboard the helicopter were examined at El Centro Regional Medical Center but were reported as both injured and uninjured. The accident occurred during a training mission. How much damage the helicopter sustained is unknown.

    FedEx Express Plane Returns to Denver After Engine Failure

    FedEx Express flight FX-1352 had to return and make an emergency landing in Denver, Colorado, on November 21st.

    The Airbus A300-600 plane took off for Memphis, Tennessee, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Lufthansa Plane Makes Safe Landing in Los Angeles after Object Encounter

    LufthansaLufthansa flight LH-456 continued for a safe landing at Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California, on March 18.

    The Airbus A380-800, flying from Frankfurt, Germany to Los Angeles, California, was on its approach to runway when it encountered an object passing over, presumably a drone.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 525 people onboard remained unharmed.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Colgan Main Gear Landing in Houston

    What: United/Colgan de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Little Rock,AR to Houston
    Where: Houston
    When: Apr 7th 2012
    Who: 31 passengers, 4 crew
    Why: While on approach to Houston, the gear did not come down. The crew performed a fly by, and ATC confirmed that the main gear were down but not the front (nose) landing gear.

    The pilots made a second approach which concluded landing on the main gear. The pilots kept the nose up as long as possible.

    U.S. Military Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Tokyo

    A U.S. military helicopter made an emergency landing at Chofu Airport in Tokyo, Japan, on February 29th.

    Authorities said the pilot of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois aircraft, belonging to the 459th Airlift Squadron at Yokota Air Base, declared emergency due to an engine warning light. The helicopter was on a routine local flight at the time.

    The aircraft landed safely. All nine people aboard remained unhurt.
