    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Hauppauge

    A Cirrus SR22 plane crash-landed in an industrial park in Hauppauge, New York, on March 5th.

    The plane was en-route to Republic Airport, Farmingdale, when it developed some engine issues. Authorities said the parachute attached to the plane deployed before it went down in a grassy area, just 8 miles east of Republic Airport.

    The plane was carrying two people at the time, including the pilot Louis Obergh and his daughter, Rachel Obergh. Both of them suffered minor injuries. They were returning after visiting University of Rhode Island.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Horizon Air Plane Returns to Portland due to Smell of Smoke

    Horizon Air flight QX-2794 had to return and make an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon, on April 28th.

    The plane took off for Albuquerque, New Mexico, but had to return shortly afterwards due to smell of smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Lion Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Indonesia

    Thai Lion AirLion Air flight JT-791 made an emergency landing in Makassar, Indonesia, on September 22nd.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane was flying from Ambon, Indonesia, when the crew reported issues with its right hand engine.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. There were 211 passengers and 7 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Alaska Airlines Flight Diverted


    On July 12, 2013, an Alaska Airlines BOEING 738 on flight 769 developed an odor in the cabin.

    Pilots diverted to Chicago where they made a safe landing.

    Three flight attendants were affected.

    The flight made a safe landing with no additional injuries. The incident is under investigation.

    Cessna Crashed at Mount Pleasant Regional Airport, 2 Killed

    CessnaA single engine Cessna 150 plane crashed just about 200 yards off the runway at Mount Pleasant Regional Airport, Charleston County, South Carolina, at about 11:36 a.m. on August 14.

    According to Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Ken Glasson, both people aboard the plane died in the crash. They were later identified as the flight instructor Graham Borland, 33, of North Charleston and his student Matthew Gaither, 20, of Johns Island.

    The plane was registered in the name of Hanger Aviation Inc. of Johns Island.

    The accident is under investigation by the FAA and the NTSB.

    Pia Jet Struck by Catering Truck

    What: PIA Pakistan to Manchester
    Where: Allama Iqbal International Airport Pakistan
    When: October 24, 2012
    Who: 203 aboard (183 economy class passengers, 16 business class and four infants)
    Why: After passengers had boarded for the 11:45 a.m. flight to Manchester, and the plane was about to taxi for take off, a catering van drove onto the tarmac and into the parked aircraft, damaging the door of the plane.

    Passengers disembarked and had to wait at the airport for hours until 7:30 when the replacement plane for PK 709 left for Manchester.
