    FAA Moves Up Allegiant Air Audit from 2018 to 2016

    AllegiantThe FAA has confirmed that it is moving the routine audit of Allegiant Air from 2018 to 2016.

    According to a statement, “The FAA is conducting a routine National Certificate Holder Evaluation of Allegiant Air. We do these on each U.S.-certificated airline every five years. We moved up the date for Allegiant’s evaluation from 2018 to 2016 to ensure that work the carrier is doing to address various internal issues has resulted in the desired improvements. We expect to have the evaluation done by late June.”

    The evaluation schedule was moved due to a series of recent incidents. Recently, at least two Allegiant flights made emergency landings due to shortage of fuel. Furthermore, last week an Allegiant plane made an emergency landing in Phoenix due to engine failure.

    Illinois Honours the US Marine Died in Nevada Jet Crash


    The residents of Hopedale, a Tazewell County town in Illinois, are preparing a farewell for the 32-year-old Marine, who died in Nevada when his training aircraft crashed on March 1 during a training exercise.

    2,380 American flags were placed along 12 miles of highway for honouring Captain Reid Nannen, whose funeral is planned on Saturday, March 22 at Eastview Christian Church in Normal.

    He left behind a wife and four children.  He was temporarily stationed at the U.S. Navy’s “Top Gun” school in Nevada, while his permanent posting was in Japan with the Marines.

    Larry Eckhardt of Little York initiated this effort. The Hopedale residents also wanted to do something special for their native son, therefore, they warmly welcomed him.

    Reid’s sister, Bethany Nannen, moved by this wonderful gesture of the townspeople said that her family feels humbled beyond belief.

    Gulf Air Plane Diverts to Mumbai after Hitting Turbulence

    Gulf Air flight GF-155 made an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on May 27th.

    The Airbus A330-200, en-route from Manila, Philippines, to Bahrain, was diverted after it was hit by severe turbulence that injured several passengers and crew members.

    The plane landed uneventfully. One person was taken to hospital with head wounds.

    The flight was carrying 247 passengers at the time.

    Moving the @MH370 Search Forward: Remus AUV

    Will the Remus be deployed to search for MH370? The Remus is the platform used to search for AirFrance 447, rated to 6000 meters. The AUV device was famously designed by the Naval Oceanographic Office, the Office of Naval Research, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution – WHOI, in support of deep-water autonomous operations.

    Why would the Remus be ideal for the @MH370 search?

    United Airlines Plane Diverts to Japan after Hitting Turbulence

    United Airlines flight UA-2 made an emergency landing at Narita International Airport, Japan, on November 28th.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane was heading from Singapore to San Francisco, California, when it encountered turbulence twice, causing injuries to two crew members.

    The crew subsequent diverted to Narita International Airport.

    The plane landed safely. The injured were taken to a hospital.

    Medical Emergency Diverts BA Flight to Winnipeg

    What: British Airways en route from Heathrow to Phoenix
    Where: Winnipeg
    When: December 23, 2010
    Who: 1 passenger
    Why: While en route, a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

    Pilots diverted to Winnipeg where they made a safe landing. The unidentified passenger was transported by paramedics to a hospital in Winnipeg.
