    Helicopter Crashes into Residential Building in Orlando; 3 Killed

    FireA helicopter crashed into a building at 722 Alameda Drive, near Orlando Executive Airport in Orlando, Florida, at around 2:15 p.m. on March 22.

    Authorities said the Robinson R44 helicopter took off from Orlando Executive Airport but crashed shortly afterwards into a two-story garage apartment, sparking fire.

    According to Orlando police Sgt. Wanda Ford, “We don’t know what caused the accident… We just know the helicopter did go inside the guest house and thankfully there were no residents inside.”

    All 3 occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot Bruce Teitelbaum, his wife Marsha Khan and a friend Harry Anderson.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Jetstar Airways Flight Diverts to Brisbane due to Engine Problem

    JetstarJetstar Airways flight JQ-956 made an emergency landing in Brisbane, Australia, on September 22nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Sydney to Cairns, Australia, was diverted after one of the engines developed a technical problem.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Washington State: De Havilland Dash 8-400 Runway Overrun

    What: Horizon Air de Havilland Dash 8-400 (Alaska Airlines) en route from Seattle Bellingham
    Where: Bellingham
    When: Aug 16th 2009 11:50PM PDT (arrival)
    Who: 76 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: There were no reported problems during the 32 minute flight; however, while landing at Bellingham, the plane overran the runway. No injuries were reported and the plane was towed to the terminal after a delay of 6-8 hours.

    Aussie Emergency Landing

    What: nine-seater plane, a charter of Shine Aviation Service
    Where: Geraldton Airport
    When: Jan 7 8:30 am
    Who: 9 passengers aboard.
    Why: Flight reported that a warning light predicted the landing gear might fail on landing. The emergency landing occurred when landing gear became stuck and its wheels failed to come down. The pilot used up excess fuel before landing without incident.

    What: ETHIOPIAN Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Bamako Mali to Addis Ababa
    Where: Ndjamena Chad
    When: Jan 29, 2010
    Who: 150 passengers
    Why: After circling N’Djamena for an hour and dumping fuel, the plane made an emergency landing in Chad on Thursday. The emergency was attributed to a radar problem. Earlier the same plane had electrical problems on an earlier leg of the flight.

    Why does this sound to me like an accident waiting to happen? Maintenance! Please!! Let us not have more bad news!

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dayton

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2392 had to return for an emergency landing in Dayton, Ohio, on December 6th.

    The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported failure of right engine.

    The plane landed safely. There were 123 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
