Ryanair FR8321 had to make an emergency landing in Barcelona, Spain, early on March 19.
The plane was en-route from London Stansted to Valencia, Spain, when a fire extinguisher went off in the cockpit, forcing the pilots to use oxygen masks. The pilots then reported the situation and requested an emergency landing at Barcelona Airport.
The plane landed uneventfully. Passengers remained seated while an engineer replaced the faulty fire extinguisher.
The flight resumed shortly afterwards.

What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Milan Italy to Hamburg Germany

Why: The low-flying Boeing was apparently flying low when vibrations from the plane rattled the tile roof and collapsed the chimney.
If this were in the U.S., the airport would do its best to (as quietly as possible) purchase the house. I’m assuming this is one of those properties in the immediate neighborhood of the “offending” airport. So much of what happens depends on whether or not the homeowner wants to move, if the property predates the airport, local laws and agreements already in place. Will there be a lawsuit, or an amicable meeting over a common negotiating table? Depends on the lawyer. Who knows? It may be the airport who sits across the table from the homeowner—or it may be a local contractor whose work is less than stellar.
American Airlines flight 1320 returned and made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 17.
The plane, carrying 126 passengers and 7 crew members, departed for St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, shortly before 9 a.m. Authorities said it was airborne for about 10 minutes before a flock of geese hit it. The pilot then declared an emergency and landed back uneventfully. No one was injured.
The aircraft was taken out of service. The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.
The FAA is investigating.
LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-4 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on May 10th.
The Boeing 787-800 flying yo Warsaw, Poland, had to return due to engine oil leakage.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.
Solaseed Air flight 6J-51 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kagoshima, Japan, on August 17th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Tokyo to Miyazaki, Japan, was diverted due to an issue with the flaps.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and eighty-three people aboard remained unharmed.
On Jan 25, 2013, a Ural Airlines Airbus A321-211 with 220 aboard was en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Kazan Russia.
On approach to Kazan in poor visibility at 3:40 am local time, the first landing approach was aborted, and the rear fuselage of the plane struck an antenna. There is also a mention of an on board system failure.
Pilots made a safe landing on the next approach in spite of damage the rear fuselage contact area and brake line. We have heard of no reported injuries.
The investigation is underway.

Who: 49 passengers, 3 crew
Why: After takeoff from Denver, the flight was still above Denver when smoke was indicated in the lavatory.
The pilot returned to make a safe landing with emergency services on standby. Passengers disembarked safely with no reported injuries (and no fire found) and were ported to the gate.
Needful Maintenance? Smoke alarm? Fumes burning off the engine? Someone smoking in the bathroom? Inquiring minds want to know.
