    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Wayne County Field

    tangerinefieldA small plane made an emergency landing in a field in Macedon, Wayne County, New York, on January 21.

    The Cessna plane was en-route from New Bedford, Massachusetts, to Rochester, New York, when its carburetor froze up, forcing the pilot to land in a small backyard field area.

    There were two people aboard at the time, including the pilot Jeremiah Coholan and passenger Richard Medeiros; both of them remained unhurt.

    China Southern Airlines Flight Returns to Melbourne due to Flaps Problem

    China Southern Airlines flight CZ-344 had to return and make an emergency landing in Melbourne, Australia, on February 3rd.

    The Airbus A333-300 plane took off for Guangzhou, China, but had to turn back due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Northwest Airlines Boeing 747-400 Manila (Philippines) to Tokyo Narita (Japan)
    Where: NARITA, JP
    When: 02/20/2009
    Who: 408 passengers and 14 crew
    Why: 30 minutes prior to landing with seatbelt signs turned on, the airplane encountered severe turbulence. The plane dropped abruptly from 15000 feet. Some passengers not yet buckled in were thrown out of their seats and struck the ceiling resulting in a couple of injuries. 43 passengers were distressed enough to go to the hospital. Only one passenger sustained a neck fracture; two injuries were minor.

    SOUTH NARITA, JAPAN, NWA2 ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURBULENCE AT 15000.

    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-353 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on April 21st.

    The plane took off for Geneva, Switzerland, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet2 Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Jet2 flight LS-264 made an emergency landing in Barcelona, Spain, on July 16th.

    The Boeing 737-300 plane heading from Ibiza, Spain, to Leeds, England, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Transavia Flight Intercepted by Fighter Jets due to Loss of Communication

    Transavia flight HV-1834 was intercepted by fighter jets on the way to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 22nd.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Kos, Greece, lost communication with the ATC.

    The Eurofighter jets dispatched by the Italian Air Force later returned as the communication was restored.

    The flight continued to Amsterdam.
