Cargo Boeing Crashes in Bagram

Contact photographer Shawn ByersA National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 on a cargo flight from Bagram to Dubai Al Maktoum crashed with 7 crew (including 4 pilots, 2 mechanics,) and cargo shortly after takeoff.
The National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 had just lifted off and was climbing when it crashed. The crash resulted in a fire.
National Airlines President Glen Joerger was quoted saying that “This is a devastating loss for our family and we’ll work diligently with authorities to find the cause,” said Joerger. “Most importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with our crewmembers and their families.”
The NTSB and Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority are investigating.

American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in San Jose
American Airlines flight AA-169 made an emergency landing in San Jose, California, on June 17th.The Boeing 737-800 plane, heading from San Francisco, California, to Los Angeles, California, had to be diverted after it developed cabin pressure issue.
The plane landed safely. All 159 passengers and 6 crew members remained unharmed.

Why: After takeoff, the plane’s engine left a trail of sparks and was vibrating. A quarter of an hour later, the plane returned to the runway for a safe landing in spite of hydraulic damage. The speculation is that ice ingestion caused damage to the engine and hydraulics, but of course that is an open question until after the investigation.
Already Delayed Air India Express Flight Returns to Kerala
A Dubai-bound Air India Express flight IX 539 returned and made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram international airport, Kerala, India, at 10:30 p.m. on August 19.The flight was scheduled to take off at 4:30 p.m. local time, however, the passengers were told that it would be delayed due to a technical issue in the aircraft. The plane finally took off at 7:52 p.m. and just minutes after that, the decision for emergency landing was made following a failure in the electronics system.
The plane landed uneventfully after shedding extra fuel. All 195 passengers and crew members remained unhurt.
The passengers were booked in another flight for Wednesday morning.

Ukranian Cargo Plane Crashes in Egypt

Why: On liftoff, the plane slammed to the tarmac, then slid down and off the runway and hundreds of feet from the runway burst into flames. The plane had a full tank.The crew included one person from Russia, two from Belarus and two from the Ukraine. The plane’s black box data recorder were recovered.
