    Emergency Landing in S.C.


    Pictured: Delta Connection (Comair) Canadair CL-600-2C10 Regional Jet CRJ-701ER over Atlanta. This one is purely a guess on my part since the info is sketchy (so far) and no registration # yet. But this jet is both Comair and Delta and CRJ, and south, so we’re probably not too far off.

    Where: Myrtle Beach
    When: Jan 29
    Who: 17 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed smoke in the cockpit and made an emergency landing in Myrtle Beach, about 100 miles north of Charleston.

    Delta Emergency Landing in San Francisco


    What: Delta Boeing 737 flight 1652 en route from Mineta San Jose International Airport to Atlanta
    Where: San Francisco International Airport
    When: 01/14/2009 7:30
    Who: 93 passengers
    Why: Fuel system indicator light was flashing so the plane was diverted to divert the plane to San Francisco International Airport, Passengers were booked on alternative flights, and the Boeing retired to the Delta maintenance unit at San Francisco International Airport for repairs to the light.

    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-803 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, on March 23rd.

    The plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to reports of a smoky odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All 148 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Turkish Airlines Flight Returns to Izmir After Bird Strike

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-2909 had to return and make an emergency landing in Izmir, Turkey, on February 28th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Istanbul, Turkey, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Waterford Pilot Crashes by Williams Lake

    What: 1946 Piper J3C-65 Cub
    Where: Waterford Township
    When: July 19, 2011 7:10 p.m.
    Who: pilot
    Why: The pilot was attempting to make a lake landing with the single engine seaplane when he hit trees near Ideal Terrace and crashed in a field near Williams Lake. The pilot managed to avoid houses in the area, but was injured in the crash with severe injuries to his neck and cuts on his legs.

    Colorado Mountain Crash, 2 lost in Mountain Snow, 2 Recovered

    What: Private Socata TB21 Trinidad TC en route from Durango to Aspen
    Where: Silverton, CO
    When: Dec 3 2011
    Who: 4 aboard
    Why: Forty minutes after leaving Durango for a Christmas party in Snowmass Village., the plane crashed into mountains near Silverton Colorado. Hampered by inclement weather, searchers had to deal with nearly a foot of snow between Saturday and Sunday in the mountains at 11,000 above sea level.

    The bodies of Jenna Rich and Tyler Black were found and recovered, and are headed for autopsy.

    The search continues for two more bodies. The four adult passengers have all been reported as deceased. Three of those aboard were employees of Alpine Bank, and the fourth aboard was a spouse.

    The debris field of the crash covers more than a mile.
