Why: The Mooney M2OE crashed on the west side of Rio Linda Airport . On crashing on the speedway, the plane caught fire. The plane’s owner, Dave Michaud, was an on-call reserve deputy, formerly a C-5 Flight Engineer in the 301st Airlift Squadron at Travis.

The plane incurred significant damage while landing with an apparent left hand brake failure that skewed toward the downslope, but no one was reported injured.The US statement of jurisdiction of the event posted on December 2, 2010, says that the investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Peruvian government.

Small Plane Crash-Lands in Florida Everglades; 2 Injured
A Lancair LNC 4 aircraft crash-landed onto a levee in the Everglades, near Broward-Palm Beach county line, Florida, on August 30.
The four-seater aircraft, which took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and was heading to Lynchburg, Virginia, crash-landed due to engine failure. Authorities said the aircraft cartwheeled and burst into flames upon landing.
There were 2 people aboard the plane, including the 52-year-old pilot Ken McKenzie and his 50-year-old wife Sonia. Both of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the pilot had reported low oil pressure shortly after the plane departed from Fort Lauderdale airport.

Nigerian Helicopter Crash Kills 4

Why: While en route from Warri via Brass to Port Harcourt, the helicopter crashed into a swampy area about 2 minutes flying time from Port Harcourt International Airport. Apparently naval officers on the scene prevented locals and reporters from taking photographs.The helicopter went into a spin, and emitted a bang before crashing. Locals on the scene used a machete to hack through a door to retrieve passengers in a rescue effort.
Victoria Helicopter Crash injures Instructor and Student

What: R-22 training helicopter
Where: Victoria International Airport off of the tarmac.
When: just before noon Friday Oct 17
Who: The instructor was seriously injured; the student was trapped in the wreckage for some time with minor injuries
Why: Witnesses said the helicopter “…was doing an exercise about 100 metres above a grassy training area west of the airport when it fell to the ground, bounced twice and landed upside down.”
Two Dead in Cedar Fort Cessna Crash

A twin-engine Cessna Citation Jet CJ1 owned by Donald L. Baker and his wife Dawn Hunter, crashed near Cedar Fort, Utah. Witnesses saw the airplane on fire and coming to pieces, and heard an explosion. The plane was due at Tucson but never arrived. Two unidentified bodies were recovered from a large debris field a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Snow and fog have been hampering recovery efforts. The names of the victims will be confirmed before they are released. FAA spokesman Allen Kenitze said the Cessna 525 “crashed under unknown circumstances.”
