    What: UT Air
    Where: 350 kms from Nizhnevartovsk, Russia
    When: July 2 2008
    Who: 9 fatalities, 13 aboard
    Why: The helicopter was on landing approach when according to witnesses, it caught fire and crashed. Apparently one of the black boxes survived and is being studied. The crew survived the crash.

    Beechcraft Plane Crash; Five Deaths

    What: small propeller-driven, six-seater Beechcraft BE95 twin-engine plane en route from the Minden-Tahoe Airport (500 yards south of Mottsville Lane, three miles west of State Route 88)
    Where: western Gardnerville Nevada
    When: Saturday afternoon about 4:10 p.m.
    Who: five people aboard: four men and one woman. All died of blunt force trauma.
    Why: Witnesses say the plane nose-dived into an open field. Witnesses said “The right wing of the plane dropped down and it appeared that the pilot had stalled”

    The cause is under investigation.

    GA: Missing Helicopter found

    What: 2006 Robinson R44II en route North Palm Beach County airport to Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa in Young Harris
    Where: north Georgia mountains
    When: Monday evening
    Who: pilot Adam Reeves, of Jupiter, Fla and unidentified passenger
    Why: The helicopter had been missing since Monday. It was found Friday afternoon by the Civil Air Patrol, having crashed in the N. Georgia mountains in northern Lumpkin County around 2:30 p.m. The search began after relatives of the passengers made inquiries at the airport about a helicopter that had never arrived.

    The flight had been due in Blairsville at 7 p.m but had never arrived.

    The helicopter refueled in Madison, Ga around 6:30 pm Monday. At some unknown time it left North Palm Beach County.

    Reeves was a former U.S. Air Force medic who ran health care and realty companies in Palm Beach County.

    Ukrainian Warplane Shot Down Near the MH17 Crash Site

    Ukraine FlagA Ukrainian fighter jet crashed after it was shot down near the crash site of MH17, in Eastern Ukraine, on August 7.

    The incident happened when the Sukhoi warplane was flying low over the rebel-held area, near Donetsk, some 40 km west of the site where the Malaysian Airline flight MH17 crashed on July 17.

    The aircraft exploded midair before it crashed into the ground; however, the witnesses reported that the pilot managed to parachute out.

    Spokesperson of Ukrainian military Vladislav Seleznyov, confirmed that rebels had shot down a fighter jet and said that “the pilot managed to steer the craft away from a residential area.” He also said that a search and rescue operation is being carried out for the pilot.

    Cathay Dragon Plane Suffers Tail Strike in Cambodia

    A Cathay Dragon plane suffered a tail strike while landing in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on March 3rd.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A321-200 plane was performing flight KA-248 from Hong Kong, China.

    The plane taxied to apron without further incident.

    All 143 passengers aboard remained safe.

    Teterboro: Pilot and Co-pilot survive Fiery NJ Crash

    What: Twin-engine Beechcraft Baron hired by Quest Diagnostics en route from Reading, Pa. to Teterboro (where the where the plane in the recent Hudson crash originated.)
    Where: adjacent to Teterboro Airport,
    When: Friday, Aug. 21, 2009
    Who: Pilot and copilot
    Why: The flight was delivering blood specimens for Quest Diagnostics. Halfway down the runway, the pilot aborted the first attempt at landing, and hit a tree and broke in half on the next go-around, then crashing and burning in a nearby warehouse parking lot.

    Rescuers rushed to the scene to search for the pilot and co-pilot, and reportedly heard someone saying ‘We’re here, We’re here,”

    Rescuers came back with ‘I know you are, but I’m looking for the guys on the plane.’ And they replied, ‘We are the guys from the plane.’

    Both men are in serious condition.

    The pilot George Maddox, 54, of Sinking Springs, Pa. and copilot Co-pilot Sanil Gopinath, 42, of Laurel, Md survived and were checked in to St. Barnabas Medical Center.
