    Delta Jet Makes Safe Emergency Landing in Managua

    250px-Delta_logo.svgA Delta airliner had to return and make an emergency landing at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, Nicaragua, on March 6.

    The Airbus 320, carrying 124 passengers, was taking off from the airport when the crew reported an issue in its forward landing gear. The pilot then turned back and made a safe emergency landing in Managua. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    According to director of Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aviation Mario Altamirano, “They were preparing for an emergency landing and made it in what we call ‘dead time,’ in other words, when it wouldn’t conflict with other flights.”

    Disabled Piper Quietly Lands on Palm Beach

    Why: After having engine problems, a pilot quietly landed his twin-engine Piper Navajo on the beach south of the Palm Beach jetty. He said “The plane didn’t want to run anymore, so it landed.”

    The pilot was not injured but the plane suffered some damage and will have to be dismantled to be removed from the beach.

    The 1974 plane is registered to Secure Aviation, 10218 SE Banyan Way in Tequesta.

    Monarch Airlines Plane Diverts to UK due to Hydraulic Failure

    MonarchMonarch Airlines flight ZB-492 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, London, UK, on September 14th.

    The Airbus A321-200 flying from Birmingham, UK, to Alicante, Spain, had to divert due to a hydraulic issue.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Delta: Whacked Tail at JFK

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 from New York JFK,NY to Sao Paulo
    Where: New York
    When: Mar 6th 2011
    Why: The Delta Boeing encountered heavy wind on takeoff and suffered a tail strike. The pilot returned to JFK and made a safe landing. According to Flight Aware, the duration of the flight was 49 minutes.

    Engine Failure Prompts Cessna to Land near Key West International Airport

    A single-engine Cessna made an emergency landing near Key West International Airport in Monroe County, Florida, at around 10:20 a.m. on January 3.

    Authorities said that the plane, en-route from Naples to Key West airport, ended up in around 3 feet of water in salt ponds after the pilot reported engine failure.

    There were 6 people on board at the time of incident; all of them remained unharmed.

    CA: Private Plane Lands on its Nose

    Why: The pilot was attempting to land when he lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft landed on its nose on a grassy area close to the runway. No one was injured in the landing except the plane.
