    Delta Airlines Plane Diverts and Makes Emergency Landing in Washington

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-151 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Washington, DC, on March 17.

    The McDonnell Douglas-88, en-route from Washington to Atlanta, Georgia, was climbing out of Washington when the crew reported smoke in the aircraft, prompting it to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 153 people on board remained unhurt.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Portland

    United AirlinesUnited Airlines flight UA-789 had to return and make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport, Oregon, on October 13th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an electrical smell onboard.

    The plane landed safely. There were 177 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    Condor Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dominican Republic

    condor airlinesCondor Airlines flight DE-3950 made an emergency landing in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on November 12th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane was flying from Munich, Germany, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    All 254 people aboard remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Returns to JFK Airport due to Electrical Problem

    American Airlines flight AA-64 had to return and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on October 5th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back after the crew noticed an electrical problem.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Munich Emergency Landing by Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti

    What: Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti Avion de Transport Regional ATR-72-500 en route from Munich to Venice
    Where: Munich
    When: May 17th 2012, 13:35
    Who: 58 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: While en route ten minutes into the flight, the plane developed smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The crew returned to Munich. On approach to Munich, the crew had to shut down the right engine.

    On landing, the plane veered off the runway on to the grass, ran into some obstructions and stopped with a collapsed nose gear. During rescue, twenty flights were diverted. The plane is presently sinking into soft round.

    The passengers were evacuated. Other than one person with back injuries, no injuries were reported.

    Thomas Cook Emergency Landing in Frankfurt

    What: Thomas Cook Boeing 757 en route from Glasgow to Heraklion
    Where: Frankfurt
    Who: not available
    Why: The flight was en route over Holland when one of the planes engines developed engine failure. The pilot shut down engine two and diverted to Frankfort, where they made a safe landing. Emergency services were on standby when the plane landed.

    Passengers were provided accommodations and flew out the next day, although there was no Thomas Cook affiliate there, and they were not kept informed of their situation.
