Qantas Diverts Due to Faulty fuel Valve

What: Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Los Angeles,CA
Where: Nadi, Fiji
When: Jan 18th 2011
Why: While en route to Los Angeles, the plane’s engine 4 developed fuel valve problems. The flight diverted to Nadi where they made a safe landing. Passengers were processed by 3 immigration officers.

The number of passengers was not available.

25 Qantas economy passengers were offered a ride on the Air Pacific FJ810 service from Nadi to LAX without their luggage. Other passengers took advantage of overnight accommodations as they waited for a replacement flight to come from Sydney. Apparently their first replacement flight also had to be replaced.

    Who: 17 passengers, 2 crew
    Why: The plane overran the runway while landing at Andahuaylas. The plane incurred significant damage while landing with an apparent left hand brake failure that skewed toward the downslope, but no one was reported injured.

    The US statement of jurisdiction of the event posted on December 2, 2010, says that the investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Peruvian government.

    China Eastern Plane Diverts to Malaysia due to Loss in Cabin Pressure

    china easternChina Eastern flight MU-782 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, on December 18.

    The Airbus A330-300, en-route from Denpasar, Indonesia, to Beijing, China, had to divert due to loss in cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    United Airlines Flight 2068 Returns to SFO due to Mechanical Problem

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines flight 2068 had to return and make an emergency landing in San Francisco due to a mechanical problem.

    The Seattle-bound flight took off from San Francisco International Airport at about 1:30 p.m. on May 23. Shortly after it took off, a mechanical problem was discovered in the plane.

    The Boeing 757 was then returned to San Francisco where it made an uneventful emergency landing at about 1:57 p.m.. No one was injured in the incident.

    Another plane was arranged to take the passengers to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

    Emergency Landing on Route 67

    What: Homebuilt Europa en route from Gillespie Field
    Where: Route 67 in Santee
    When: July 21, 2012
    Who: Pilot
    Why: When his engine locked up in a turn after taking off from Gillespie Field, pilot Wayne Oehler of El Cajon made an emergency landing on to the freeway near Riverton road. A California Highway Patrol officer saw the plane in distress and flying low, and cleared the road.

    Airbus Goes Down in Colorado Springs. No Injuries.


    What: US Airways Airbus A-319 was en route to Los Angeles from Philadelphia
    Where: Colorado Springs Municipal airport
    When: 12:05 p.m.
    Who: 198 people on board
    Why: After the Airbus lost power to one of its engines, it landed at Colorado Springs safely.

    Qantas Airways Returns and Makes Emergency Landing in Australia

    QantasQantas Airways plane had to return and make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on April 5th.

    The Airbus A380, en-route to Dubai, UAE, was mid-air when the crew detected engine vibration issues, prompting it to return eight hours after taking off from Melbourne.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 410 passengers onboard remained unharmed.
