    Ryanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dublin

    Ryanair flight FR-161 made an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, on February 14.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane, heading to Copenhagen, Denmark, was forced to return due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All 171 passengers and 6 crew members remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    French Crash Claims Two

    A man and a woman were aboard a Jodel D plane near Bucey-lès-Gy, France, on Sunday April 6 2014, when it crashed after taking off. The two people aboard the craft died on impact. The plane was at a low altitude when apparently, the pilot tried to turn around. The accident may have been due to a mechanical issue or pilot error. The female pilot lived in Beaune and her passenger was a Dole air traffic controller.

    Société Avions Jodel is a French aircraft company that built planes of Sitka spruce from 1946 until the sixties. New Jodel planes are constructed only by hobbyists.

    Ryanair Plane Rolls Backwards and Crashes into Ciampino Airport Fire Station Building

    RyanairA Ryanair Boeing 737-800, parked at Ciampino Airport, Rome, rolled backwards 40 metres and rammed into an airport fire station on June 5.

    The accident occurred shortly after the aircraft landed and disembarked all the passengers.

    The incident caused a damage worth of £200,000 to the rear stabiliser of the plane. The ‘tail wing’ of the £72m aircraft was torn apart. The garage of the fire station at the airport was also damaged externally.

    According to a spokesman for Ryanair, the airplane was parked but was not properly secured by the ground handling staff of ‘Groundcare’. The airline has demanded an investigation into the incident.

    A spokesman for Ciampino airport said: “We are investigating the cause of the incident and whether proper procedures were followed. We are aware of reports that chocks were not in place and that’s why the police have also been involved and a criminal investigation is also under way. Until that is completed there is nothing else to say.”

    Cessna Crashed near Victoria Falls Airport

    CessnaA 4-seater Cessna plane, heading to Hwange National Parks, crashed near Lupinyu business center close to Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe, in the afternoon of August 11.

    According to the officer commanding Victoria Falls police, Jairos Chiwona, “The crash happened a few minutes after take-off from the airport. The pilot communicated that he was turning back soon after the take-off because the plane was having engine problems.”

    Three people aboard the plane, including 2 Australian tourists and a German pilot, suffered critical injuries. They were transported to Chinotimba Medical Centre and Victoria Falls District Hospital.

    The names of the victims have not yet been released.

    Italian Military Crash Near Pisa

    What: AMI 46′ Brigata Aerea Lockeed C-130J Hercules
    Where: Le Rene, near Coltano Italy
    When: Nov 23, 2009
    Who: 5 airmen (two pilots and three officers)
    Why: While en route, the Lockeed C-130J Hercules crashed on the railway line Pisa-Collesalvetti-Cecina, killing all aboard the plane.

    The crew was from the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, out practicing the “touch and go” maneuver. The plane had touched and was gaining altitude when it veered to the right and crashed.

    Although the plane crashed on the train tracks in a widespread area, train traffic was not disrupted.

    The Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi expressed condolences to the families of the five victims.
