Why: After the pilot had reported smoke in the cockpit, the flight was diverted to Logan International Airport for safety reasons. A replacement jet was provided; and no cause has been released as to the source of the smoke.

Air New Zealand flight NZ-268 had to return and make an emergency landing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on October 9th.


Alaska Airlines flight AS-176 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Ketchikan, Alaska, on April 18th.
Air Niugini flight PX-275 had to return for an emergency landing in Kavieng, Papua New Guinea, on May 23rd.
