What: GENESUS ONE INC owned single-engine Skylane Cessna en route to Essex County Airport
Where: emergency landing outside the Rockaway Townsquare Mall
When: Tuesday August 25 2009
Who: pilot and a female passenger
Why: After the engine began running “rough” during a training flight, the plane was forced to land where it could–outside the Rockaway Townsquare Mall. The pilot and passenger only had minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The plane suffered minor damage to the front end.

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Orlando Nassau
    Where: Nassau
    When: Sep 3rd 2009
    Who: 89 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: The plane incurred a fire in the left engine on landing. Fire crews put out the fire; and passengers safely debarked. (Not necessarily in that order.)

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route to Austin,TX
    Where: Orlando
    When: Sep 1st 2009
    Why: Fifteen minutes into the flight, the right engine developed a bleed air leak which caused the cabin to lose pressure

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route to Rochester
    Where: JFK Airport
    When: Monday Sept 7 2009
    Why: The flight diverted to JFK when the plane filled with fumes

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smell of Smoke

    Delta Airlines flight DL-1941 made an emergency landing in Little Rock, Arkansas, on June 14th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Santa Ana, California, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the aft cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Sriwijaya Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Guangzhou, China

    Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-1159 had to return and make an emergency landing in Guangzhou, China, on February 22nd.

    The plane took off for Bali, Indonesia, but had to turn back after the crew received indication of an open passenger door.

    The plane landed back safely. There were 180 passengers and 12 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Indian Airlines Safe Emergency Landing

    What: Indian Airlines en route from Shamshabad Airport to Tirupati
    Where: Shamshabad International Airport
    When: fifteen minutes after takeoff at 1:55 pm. Thursday May 7
    Who: 135 passengers including the Minister for Endowments J Ratnakar Rao
    Why: The plane returned to the airport when the pilot had technical difficulties.

    EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Edinburgh

    EasyjetEasyJet flight EZY811 had to make an emergency landing in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, on November 3rd.

    The plane was flying from Gatwick Airport in England, United Kingdom, when the crew declared a medical emergency. According to the airline, the pilot “requested a priority landing in Edinburgh due to a passenger requiring medical assistance.”

    The plane landed uneventfully and was met by paramedics.
