Where: Nassau
When: Sep 3rd 2009
Who: 89 passengers and 4 crew
Why: The plane incurred a fire in the left engine on landing. Fire crews put out the fire; and passengers safely debarked. (Not necessarily in that order.)

What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route to Austin,TX
Where: Orlando
When: Sep 1st 2009
Why: Fifteen minutes into the flight, the right engine developed a bleed air leak which caused the cabin to lose pressure

What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route to Rochester
Where: JFK Airport
When: Monday Sept 7 2009
Why: The flight diverted to JFK when the plane filled with fumes

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Maryland

    A 1965 Mooney aircraft made an emergency landing at Tipton Airport, Maryland, on November 22.

    The plane took off from Tipton Airport but had to return shortly afterwards after it lost power due to a mechanical fault. The pilot Paul Antoinette, 48, of Baltimore, was heading to Florida at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully in a grassy area near the runway. The pilot remained uninjured.

    TAP Air Portugal Plane Returns to Portugal due to Sensor Indication

    TAPTAP Air Portugal flight TP-432 had to return and make an emergency landing at Lisbon Portela Airport, Lisbon, Portugal, on December 8.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route to Paris, France, had to return due to a sensor indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 36 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    Jet2 Flight Diverts to London Stansted due to Medical Emergency

    Jet2Jet2 flight LS121 had to land in emergency at London Stansted Airport, Essex, UK, shortly before 6 p.m. on September 4.

    The flight, on its way from Glasgow to Reus, Spain, was diverted because a passenger needed immediate medical attention.

    The flight landed safely and the Paramedics boarded the aircraft to treat the passenger. The flight later resumed its journey with a 2 hour delay.

    United Express Flight Diverts to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

    United Express flight 6183 had to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on February 24th.

    The Embraer ERJ-175 took off from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, and was heading to San Antonio, Texas, when it lost cabin pressure, forcing the pilot to divert.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    The flight was operated by Mesa Airlines.

    AirAsia X Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Perth

    AirAsia X flight D7-237 made an emergency landing in Perth, Australia, on June 25th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but had to turn back after it began shaking mid-air due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All three hundred and fifty-nine people aboard remained uninjured.

    US Airways Cockpit Smoke over Pacific

    What: US Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Phoenix,AZ to Kahului,HI
    Where: en route
    When: Sep 17 2010
    Who: 175 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: 1200 miles from Hawaii, smoke was observed in the cockpit. The crew diverted to San Francisco where they landed safely.

    A replacement jet was provided.
