    Helicopter Crash off the Coast of Brazil

    On March 27, 2013, a Líder Táxi Aéreo Bell 412SP was en route from Rio de Janeiro to an oil platform (Petrobras P-7 rig) with three people aboard when it made an emergency landing near an oil platform Bacia de Campos Brazil.

    Líder Táxi Aéreo and Petrobras say it was a controlled landing.

    The three crew were able to use a lifeboat.

    The helicopter’s flotation device was activated and the chopper floated to the surface but capsized.

    The owner of the helicopter made this statement:
    The aircraft performed a controlled landing in the water near the platform Petrobras P-7. The three occupants of the aircraft were immediately rescued and are doing fine. The freighter Petrobras, with the technical leader, are already providing the withdrawal of aircraft and general cargo. All measures of investigation are ongoing and all bodies were triggered. We reiterate that all safety procedures, maintenance and training are up to date and used properly.

    Petrobras reported the incident to the (Brazilian) ANP, Navy and Air Force who will be investigating.

    Nigerian Military Helicopter Crashed in Yola; 3 Killed

    helicopterA Nigerian military helicopter crashed near a university in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State of Nigeria, at around 10 p.m. on November 13.

    According to a statement released by the defense headquarters, “At about 2200hours yesterday, November 13, 2014, a ground attack helicopter on an armed patrol crashed around the Federal University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State.”

    All three crew members aboard were killed in the crash.

    The statement said, “Rescue party worked throughout the night to preserve the wreckage of the aircraft and scene of the accident for proper investigation to be carried out. Further details would be made known later.”

    Frontier Airlines Plane Diverts to Missouri due to Cracked Windshield

    Frontier Airlines flight F9-722 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport, Missouri, on July 2nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 flying from Colorado, to Washington, had to divert due to cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    Endeavor Air Plane Suffers Wing Damage at JFK Airport

    Endeavor Air flight 9E-5336 suffered wing damage at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on February 25th.

    The incident happened after the plane bound for Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was cleared to line up for departure.

    The plane returned to the apron.

    Authorities believe the wing damage was caused by the jet blast from another aircraft.

    Venezuela Crash Kills 6

    What: Cessna 340 A en route from El Vigia airfield in Merida state to San Antonio del Tachira
    Where: E Venezuela near Colombia
    When: Feb 23, 2010
    Who: 6 fatalities
    Why: The Premezclado Agroconcha plane carrying three well-known businessmen refueled at El Vigia. Outside the village of San Pedro del Rio, the plane crashed. Pilot Victor Correa and passengers Jesus Rojas, Efrain Rojas, Gonzalo Hidalgo, Rodolfo Betancourt and Ivan Martini were killed in the crash. The plane belongs to Maparca Corporation.

    Virgin America Flight Returns to LAX due to Landing Gear Issues

    Virgin America flight VX-108 made an emergency landing at at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on February 18th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane, heading from Los Angeles to Washington Dulles International Airport, had to return due to issue with retracting the landing gear.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 110 passengers and crew members remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
