    What: Bell 206 helicopter crash en route from Bintangor, Sarikei to Dataran Sibu

    Who: Captain Sahimi Razali
    Why: The helicopter Captain Razali was piloting crashed after three delegates disembarked. The helicopter was ten feet off the ground when he lost control of it and was pinned in the wreckage. He sustained undesignated injuries and died at Sibu hospital. His helicopter was a third of the units carrying a delegation to Dataran Sibu.

    Cirrus Ocean Crash, Birmingham Couple in Dramatic Bahama Ocean Rescue

    What: M & W Aviation LLC Cirrus SR22 GTS en route from Kendall-Tamiami Executive to Port au Prince
    Where: Off the coast of Andros, Bahamas
    When: Jan 7 2012, 1 pm
    Who: 2 aboard, no fatalities
    Why: After the Cirrus engine failed, a father and daughter from Birmingham Alabama on a humanitarian mission deployed the plane’s parachute and ended up in a raft in the sea after their airplane crashed two miles off the coast of the Bahamas.

    After their distress call to ATC Miami Center of Aircraft Emergency at around 12: 15 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard sent a HC-144 Ocean Sentry on reconnaissance and located their raft. Richard McGlaughlin, 59, and Elaine McGlaughlin, 25 were retrieved from their inflatable onto a Jayhawk chopper.

    Plane Crash in South Africa Claims Three Lives

    A kit plane that crashed when its wings fell off, impacted near a landing strip in KwaZulu Natal province near Campertown South Africa, and resulted in three fatalities. A resident near the impact zone saw the plane crash sans wings.

    According to media reports, the plane, which crashed on Saturday, March 15, 2014, burned completely. A private ambulance service spokesperson said that the plane could be a four or six seater and that it is burnt beyond recognition.

    The police have confirmed the death of three persons in the incident. Three Durban residents flew it from Wonderboom International Airport where Kim Gibbings of Kloof had taken possession of the plane. He was identified as one of the victims. Gibbings is survived by an ex wife in Canada, two daughters, and a second wife.

    The Ravin 500 broke up in the air and the wreckage rained down on Emoyeni sugar plantation, leaving a debris field of eight hundred meters.

    Midway Plane Crash: Elderly Couple Files Lawsuit Against Airline

    Aero commanderChicago-based law firm, Corboy & Demetrio, has filed a negligence lawsuit on behalf of Raymond Rolinskas, 84 and his wife Roberta Rolinskas, 82, whose house was destroyed by a small plane crash on November 18.

    The small Aero Commander 500 aircraft, registered to Fairway-based Central Airlines, crashed into the elderly couple’s house immediately after departing from Midway International Airport, Chicago. The pilot of the plane, 47-year-old Eric Howlett, lost his life in the crash, while Raymond and his wife remained uninjured.

    According to Matthew Jenkins of Corboy & Demetrio, “While thankfully Roberta and Raymond did not suffer any physical harm, the emotional trauma has been devastating to them…Hearing, seeing and feeling an airplane crashing just inches away from them has caused severe emotional distress.”

    The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court on November 25, lists Central Airlines, Inc. as the defendant.

    Laser Airlines Plane Returns to Venezuela after Engine Failure

    Laser AirlinesLaser Airlines flight QL-905 had to return and make an emergency landing at Santiago Marino Caribbean International Airport, Porlamar, Isla Margarita, Nueva Esparta, Venezuela, on April 14th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-81, en-route to Caracas, Venezuela, had just climbed out of Santiago’s runway when the crew reported a right hand engine failure, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained safe.

    Rescue Pilot Rescued in NZ

    What: Skyline Aviation Robinson 44 Helicopter
    Where: 20 kilometres northwest of Napier
    When: Monday Sept 15
    Who: relief pilot for the service for five years
    Why:Pilot who flew into some overhead wires and crashed while while spraying blackberry farm, was trapped beneath the wrecked helicopter with a punctured lung, a broken arm and fuel burns. His condition is critical, and he is in intensive care in Hawke’s Bay Hospital
