    Jazz Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to High Engine Oil Pressure

    jazzJazz Air flight QK-8978 made an emergency landing in Montreal, Canada, on October 23rd.

    The plane was flying from Ottawa, Canada, when the crew noticed an increase in oil pressure for the left engine.

    The crew had to shut down the engine before landing in Montreal.

    There were 31 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Fourth Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in 48 Hours

    QantasA Qantas flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Hobart Airport in Tasmania, Australia, on the evening of December 9.

    The Melbourne-bound Boeing 717 had to turn back, just 20 minutes after taking off, after a warning system indicated a technical issue with the aircraft.

    The plane landed safely and was taken for examination.

    The flight was able to depart again at 7:40 p.m.

    This is the 4th emergency landing of a Qantas jet within 48 hours. The airline insisted that the incidents were un-related. According to Qantas chief Alan Joyce, “We have really high reliability. We have low levels of turnbacks compared to most of the world fleets.”

    Indonesian Military Plane Crashed in Papua; 13 Killed

    An Indonesian military plane crashed into a mountain in Papua province of Indonesia, on December 18th.

    The Hercules C-130 plane took off from Timika, Papua, and was preparing to land in Wamena, Papua, when it went down.

    There were 13 people aboard the plane, including 3 pilots and 10 passengers; all of them were killed in the crash.

    China Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    China AirlinesChina Airlines flight number CI-167, en route from Kansai International Airport in Osaka to Kaohsiung International Airport in Taiwan, made an emergency landing at Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan at around 2:36 p.m. on June 26.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after the pilots noticed fuel levels rapidly dropping in the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

    The passengers were accommodated in flight CI-123 to Taipei and flight CI-309 to Kaohsiung. China Airlines served dinner to all 154 passengers aboard before they resumed their journey.

    A spokesperson of the airline said that the aircraft is under inspection.

    Small Plane Crashed in San Jacinto County; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

    A 2-seater plane crashed near Lake Water Wheel Airport on FM 223 in San Jacinto County, Texas, at around 4:30 p.m. on September 27.

    According to initial reports, the plane crashed into a tree while it was attempting to land at Lake Water Wheel Airport.

    There were 2 people aboard the plane at the time of crash. One of them, identified as the pilot, Marcus Schmitt, 44, of Shepherd, was killed while the other person, identified as Rene Weatherford, 35, from Houston, sustained serious injuries. He is currently being treated at Memorial Hermann, Houston.

    The spokesperson of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Stephanie Davis said, “It was a self-made plane, and I don’t know exactly where they were coming from.”

    The cause of accident is under investigation.

    Pilot Killed as Small Plane Crashes near Worcester Regional Airport

    A small plane crashed into the woods near Worcester Regional Airport in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 24.

    The single-engine 1996 Mooney M20M plane was attempting to take-off from the airport when it veered right and crashed into trees just beyond the runway.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as Dr.Gary Weller, 66, of Putnam, Connecticut.

    The accident is being investigated.
