    UPS Crash in Birmingham Alabama


    A UPS Airbus A300F4-622R cargo jet en route from Louisville to Birmingham International Airport was on final approach to runway 1-8 when it crashed in Birmingham. The two pilots aboard sent no warning message, and died on impact.

    There is no indication yet if something in the cargo contributed to the crash, or if there was mechanical failure or some other factor involved.

    Visibility was 10 miles and there was a 700 ft cloud ceiling.

    An NTSB team is flying in to begin the investigation.

    The UPS burst into flames on impact in a low population density area. There were numerous explosions after the plane was burning.

    Tiger Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brisbane

    Tiger Airways flight TT-680 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brisbane, Australia, on June 21st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Sydney to Cairns, Australia, was diverted after a burning odor was noticed on board.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tampa

    United Airlines flight UA-2051 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, on March 15th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for San Francisco, California, but had to return shortly afterwards due to multiple birds strikes.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and thirty-two passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

    Engine Shut Down over Texas

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Phoenix to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Austin
    When: Mar 6th 2012
    Who: 134 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: While en route, the right engine developed problems. The Southwest Airlines crew shut down the right engine and diverted to Austin Texas where they made a safe landing with emergency services on standby.

    Passengers were provided alternative transportation.

    Spirit Airlines Jet Returns to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

    spiritSpirit Airlines Flight 596 had to return and make an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 19.

    According to the airline, “the flight crew decided to return to the gate because of a security issue on board.” It is believed that two passengers were overheard mentioning ‘bomb’ about 20 minutes after the plane took off for Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    The plane landed uneventfully. The passengers who were heard talking about bomb were removed while the Bomb-sniffing dogs searched the aircraft.

    Authorities confirmed that no explosive were found.

    Miami-Bound AA Flight Diverts to JFK Airport

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-1696 made an emergency landing at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, on April 13.

    The Boeing 737-800 departed LaGuardia Airport at around about 2:15 p.m. but had to divert to JFK shortly afterwards after a bird flew into its left engine. The flight was en-route to Miami, Florida at the time.

    The plane landed safely and none of the 152 people aboard was harmed.

    The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.
