    Qatar Airways Plane Returns to Hong Kong with Cracked Windshield

    Qatar Airways flight QR-817 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on December 30th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew noticed a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Launches International Dreamliner

    United Airlines is offering Boeing 787 Dreamliner is now offering daily nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Tokyo Narita, with 36 seats in United BusinessFirst, 70 seats in United Economy Plus, and 113 seats in United Economy.

    UA 787 service will be offered between its Houston hub and Lagos, Nigeria, five days a week, beginning on January 7, 2013.

    Jet Airways Plane Suffers Bird Strike Near Chennai Airport

    Jet Airways flight 9W-469 suffered a bird strike near Chennai International Airport, India, on July 3rd.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 MAX plane flying from Mumbai, India, was on final approach to Chennai Airport.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    Japan Airlines flight 471
    On June 14, 1972, the DC-8 struck the banks of River Yamuna. JAL flight 471 from Tokyo to London (Tokyo-Hong Kong-Bangkok-New Delhi-Teheran-Cairo-Rome-Frankfurt-London) took-off from Bangkok. After receiving clearance for ILS approach to New Delhi Palam Airport, the aircraft crashed into the banks of Yamuna River. 86 passengers and crew onboard perished, and 3 were serious injured.

    The first officer was flying the approach to Delhi. Japanese investigators claimed a false glide path signal was responsible for the descent into terrain. Indian investigators say the accident was caused by a disregard of procedures by the crew and abandoning all instrument indications without properly ensuring sighting of the runway. The accident was classified as (CFIT) Controlled Flight Into Terrain.

    LATAM Chile Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Rio de Janeiro

    LATAM Chile flight JJ-8154 made an emergency landing at Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on January 26th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
