    Several Crew Members Fell Ill; Aer Lingus Flight Lands in Emergency in Dublin

    Aer LingusA Boston-bound flight of Aer Lingus had to return and make an emergency landing at Dublin airport, after several crew members fell sick.

    Flight EI-139 carrying 280 passengers took off for Boston at about 4.23 p.m. on June 15. According to an airline spokesperson, the decision for emergency landing was made after a number of crew members reported feeling ill.

    Medical crews welcomed the Airbus A330 as it touched the ground shortly before 9 p.m. None of the crew needed hospital treatment.

    Aer Lingus said the incident is being investigated.

  • Emergency landing in Delhi

    Who: 63 passengers including including Vadodara MP and mayor Balkrishna Shukla.
    Why: After takeoff, the flight experienced undisclosed technical difficulties. According to passengers, the engines sounded like a train. The flight landed safely, and the passengers were upset over the uncomfortably hot flight, as well as the lack of explanation from the airline.

    However, newspapers carried the story, explaining that the problem with the plane was related to wheels that refused to retract.

    Delta Flight Diverts to Anchorage Due to Medical Emergency

    DeltaDelta airlines flight 284 had to make an unscheduled landing at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska, on the morning of March 4.

    According to the airline, the Boeing 777-200LR was diverted “in response to a customer medical situation on board”. The flight was heading from Narita International Airport, Japan, to Los Angeles at the time.

    Delta confirmed in a statement, “The flight landed without incident and paramedics met the aircraft on arrival.”

    The plane later took off again and landed in Los Angeles with a 2-hour delay.

    Aeromexico Plane Collides with Service Truck at LAX; 8 Injured

    An Aeromexico plane collided with a service truck after landing in Los Angeles, California, on May 20th.

    The incident happened when flight AM-642 from Mexico City, Mexico, was taxiing toward the terminal at Los Angeles airport.

    The truck overturned due to impact. There were eight people aboard, including six men and two women; all of them were injured.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane, carrying 149 people, sustained minor damage.

    Lufthansa Plane Diverts to Munich due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Lufthansa flight LH-758 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on March 6th.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane en-route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Chennai, India, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 162 people aboard remained safe.

    Why: Twenty minutes after takeoff, the flight had to return to Tolmachevo due to an oil leak from one of its engines. The plane was on a ferry flight to its manufacturer, as part of a program where newer model new ATR 72-500s will be provided as replacements. Seven planes are expected to be replaced.
