    What: AirMethods American Eurocopter AS 350B3 Ecureuil en route from Marana to Southeast Arizona Medical Center
    Where: Near Park and 1st Avenue, Tucson, Arizona
    When: July 28, 2010, 2 pm
    Who: pilot, flight nurse and paramedic
    Why: On a medical helicopter service LifeNet Arizona flight, the crew had recently spoken to ATC when the helicopter crashed in a residential neighborhood behind a house. A witness said the pilot directed the helicopter away from the house; and that the engine made “popping noises” before it went silent. It’s rotors stopped, and it fell from the sky. No patients were aboard, but the crew died on the scene.

    Aeromexico Plane Crashes in Mexico; 85 Injured

    Aeromexico flight AM-2431 crashed shortly after takeoff from Durango International Airport, Mexico, on July 31st.

    The incident happened when the plane, carrying ninety-nine passengers and four crew members, was heading to Mexico City, Mexico.

    Eighty-five people were injured in the incident.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Missing Helicopter Found, Confirmed Death of Margarita Afanaskin


    On Sept 14, 2013, an Agusta Westland AW119 Koala en route from Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Myakinino in Krasnogorsk, Moscow went missing near Tver Oblast. The last conversation between the pilot and ATC took place at 13:14 when the plane was flying over Staritskogo in heavy rain with low visibility. There are conflicting reports that the helicopter landed at a lumberjack festival with a number of people aboard, and that the commander of the aircraft was 30-year-old helicopter champion of Europe and Russia, Margarita Afanaskin was flying the helicopter to a Yakhroma airfield when the helicopter went missing. This has not been confirmed.

    The search team involved more than 100 people from diverse agencies, including the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry: 25 people 5 units from the Federal Air Transport Agency; 6 people, 3 units and participating police officers, foresters, volunteers. The rescue hotline released at the time was (4822) 39-99-99.?. Four Robinson helicopters and a Mi-8 helicopter searched Saturday.

    The search continued through the end of the fourteenth, and resumed the morning of the fifteenth.

    At 18:11 on September 16, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that helicopters in the area of ??the village Selco Staritskogo district of Tver region, from the air sighted the possible wreckage of the vehicle. Ground forces confirmed the bodies of a man and a woman whose names were not initially released; but since then the pilot was confirmed, and the passenger of the helicopter was the head of a department of the Federal Forestry Agency, Sergei Medvedev.

    Piper Crashes in Bahamas

    What: Piper Saratoga enroute from Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport
    Where: 10 miles northeast of Bimini Bahamas
    When: January 17, 2010 4:50 p.m
    Who: pilot and 2 passengers including Andrew Peterson and J.P. Antonmattei.
    Why: Pilot David Howell and two or three passengers departed Nassau for Fort Lauderdale at 2:49, and made no distress calls. Howell had been working on opening a bed and breakfast in the Bahamas, and his companions were investors. At 4:40 p.m. Sunday, the Bahamas Civil Aviation Department Air Traffic Services was notified that the Piper had ditched two miles off Bimini. Witnesses saw the plane going down just before 5 pm. The U S Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Police Force are searching the area for survivors. Reports conflict as to whether or not one body was recovered Sunday evening northeast of the Bimini Bay Resort, or whether divers saw remains in the plane Monday.

    The Bahamian FAA is the lead agency in the case.

    On the way to the Bahamas, there was also a couple aboard, but the couple elected to stay in the Nassau. Initial reports speculated that there was a fourth person aboard on the return flight.

    2 People, Dog Killed in Small Plane Crash in California

    A small plane crashed in Santee, San Diego County, California, on February 6th.

    The Cessna 182 Skylane plane, carrying two people and a pair of dogs, went down shortly after taking off from the Gillespie Field Airport.

    Both people and one of the dogs aboard the plane were killed in the crash.

    Authorities found the wreckage in an industrial area adjacent to Gillespie Field Airport.
