    What: US Airways B767 from Paris to Charlotte
    Where: Bangor Maine
    When: May 22, 2012
    Who: 179 passengers, 9 crew
    Why: Around noon, Two F-15 fighter jets scrambled to intercept a US Airways plane where a French woman from Cameroon had handed a note to a flight attendant claiming that she had a surgically implanted bomb. She was traveling alone and had no baggage.

    The flight which made a safe landing in Maine.

    The flight was interrupted for three hours when passengers were evacuated, and federal customs agents escorted the woman off the plane in handcuffs. The plane was examined and reboarded.

    A passenger said the crew initially blamed the unexpected landing on fuel and weather issues.

    JetBlue Flight Makes Safe Landing After Bird Strike

    JetBlue Airways flight B6-1038 made a safe landing following a bird strike near Boston, Massachusetts, on August 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Austin, Texas, was on approach to Boston when a bird impacted it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    MD-82 Wing Tip Strike

    What: American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-82 en route from Dallas Ft. Worth to Charlotte,NC
    Where: Charlotte
    When: Dec 13th 2009
    Who: 110 people on board
    Why: The flight was a normal flight.

    The plane landed with the left main gear off the runway and struck the right wing tip while turning back onto the runway centerline.

    The flight received a late landing clearance about 2nm before touch down. On approach, the controller advised the crew of “a significant deviation.”

    The crew to disengaged autopilot and compensated for the deviation with a manual landing, landing with the left main gear off runway. The plane suffered only a (right) right wing tip strike while turning to the runway centerline and taxied normally to the gate.

    Visibility was poor.

    Gulf Air Flight Diverts to Beirut

    What: Gulf Air Airbus A319-100 en route from Athens Greece to Bahrain
    Where: Beirut Lebanon Rafik Hariri International Airport
    When: Jul 20th 2010
    Who: 101 passengers
    Why: While en route at an altitude of 36000 feet, the plane developed a crack in the right windshield and diverted to Bahrain. They made a safe landing at 9:43 pm. Passengers are expecting at least a 24 hour delay.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Phoenix

    American Airlines flight AA-692 had to return and make an emergency landing in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 27th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Honolulu, Hawaii, but had to turn back due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and seventy passengers and ten crew members remained unharmed.
