What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from New York to Tampa
Where: Tampa

Who: 147 passengers, 5 crew
Why: On landing at Tampa, the jet incurred an altimeter failure and a tail strike.
No injuries occurred; and the NTSB is currently evaluating the state of damage incurred from the tail strike (minor) and the circumstances of the altimeter failure.
Virgin Atlantic flight VS-3 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on January 12th.
The Airbus A340-600 plane flying from Heathrow Airport, England, was descending toward New York when the crew reported an engine oil leak and declared an emergency.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: CESSNA 337C registered to George Waller en route from a private airstrip to Stillwater for fuel.

Why: The plane made a series of turns and was westbound when it crashed in a grove of trees on a private residence near 92nd Avenue and Washington Road eight miles from Stillwater. Witnesses said the “plane didn’t sound right.”
Air France flight AF-378 had to return for an emergency landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, on January 8th.
The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Detroit, Michigan, but had to turn back due to a gear issue.
The plane landed safely after dumping excess fuel. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
On November 12, 2011, the Iberia Airbus A321 had been approaching Tenerife South airport at high speed just before it landed on the same runway that a Jet2 Boeing 757-200 was departing did so because of a premature take-off clearance to the 757.
The 757 was airborne over the runway as the A321 touched down at an unexpectedly fast approach. Although the A321’s airspeed had decreased constantly through the descent, its ground speed was 210kt. Expected airspeed is in the 180-203kt range.
The planes were separated by at least 4,100ft.
The incident has been attributed to the tower controller’s “improper handling” of the take-off clearance to the 757.

What: Delta Airlines Boeing 747-400 en route from Manila to Nagoya
Where: Manila
When: Dec 19th 2010
Who: 300+ passengers and crew
Why: After taking off for Detroit, the plane developed technical problems and the pilot returned to Manila where it made a safe landing with airport’s medical and Fire and Rescue teams on standby.
After being in the air less than an hour, the pilot returned to land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
There were no injuries, but passengers complained of waiting long hours for travel solutions to being stranded. The exact nature of the technical problem of the plane was not released.

What: Shuttle America/Delta Embraer ERJ-175 en route from Chicago to New York
Where: New York
When: Feb 4th 2011; 20:57
Who: 1 injury
Why: While en route, the flight encountered severe turbulence, injuring one person aboard.
It is not indicated if that individual was an unbuckled passenger or a crew member.
The flight did not divert, but continued to make a normal landing at La Guardia.
