Virgin Atlantic flight VS-3 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on January 12th.
The Airbus A340-600 plane flying from Heathrow Airport, England, was descending toward New York when the crew reported an engine oil leak and declared an emergency.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
A small plane crashed near Brown Field Municipal Airport in San Diego, California, on September 27th.
The Cessna 182 plane, carrying three people, was approaching the airport when it went down.
All three occupants of the plane escaped with minor injuries.

Why: On its landing approach, the plane developed an unusual level of hydraulic fluid in its hydraulic braking system. Two (main gear) tires blew on landing. (It is not uncommon for tires to blow when a plane lands at too high of a speed.) The passengers debarked via emergency slides. No injuries were reported.
Newspapers reported that the pilot was Captain Jual Ruiz of Peru Ruiz, who got his license from CAAV in 2005, and has 17,500 flying hours. Nguyen Khanh Thanh of Viet Nam was his copilot.
Air India flight AI-662 made an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on May 21st.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Goa, India, was descending toward Mumbai Airport when the crew reported a hydraulic failure.
The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron.
All one hundred and forty-three passengers remained unharmed.
A privately owned helicopter crashed into trees on Curle Road, Eustis, Lake County, Florida, on September 25.
The helicopter, flying from Umatilla Municipal Airport, Florida, crashed after the pilot encountered some problem in its engine.
The 2 people aboard sustained injuries and were airlifted to hospital.
The incident is being investigated.
American Airlines Flight 1284 had to make an emergency landing at Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana, on September 14.
Authorities said the plane, en-route from Miami to Chicago, was diverted due to an unruly passenger. It is believed that 25-year-old Daniela Velez-Reyes, of Chicago, hit a passenger and a flight attendant.
The plane landed uneventfully.
Daniela was arrested while the plane was cleared to take off again.
A United Airlines flight UA-664 made a safe landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Illinois, on November 13.
The Airbus A319-100, en-route from Vancouver, Canada to Chicago, USA, encountered turbulence mid-air, forcing the crew to descend the aircraft.
The plane landed safely.
The flight attendant aboard sustained minor injuries.
